There have been some rather sensaâ€" tional cases in this line in the past few months, and the department; hopes to be able to avert similar conditions in the future by watchfulness and earnest work in preventing the growth of imâ€" moral conditions. There has been a comprehensive patrol system instituted to protect the stores and residences of the town. In view of the size of the town and the general conditions, together with the large number of transients coming to town, there have been comparatively few burglaries and thefts.
