Tin HAWES Oranges Mr. and Mrs. Hobart Esselstine arâ€" rived in town" on Thursday last and have taken up res.dence in the western section of Bruce avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Richards and daughter have moved into their handâ€" some new bungalow at the corner of Moore street and Bloor avenue. This residence is a credit to the town beâ€" himself so severely that he died five minutes after being admitted to the hospital. He has no known relatives n this country. An inquest is being held on Thursday afternoon. On the same day a man fell from the scaffolding at the new "dry" at the Dome, twelve feet to the floor below. He hit his shoulder on a cement block and received a nasty bruise and shakâ€" ing up but was able to be back at work next day. In the minds of the public these two accidents were confused and there was quite a w.despread report that the man injured at the Dome had died. Fortunately this was not so and by the time this is in print he will be well recovered fromhis mishap. Mr. Alex Reid, of the Dom#, is holiâ€" daying in Southern Ontario. The man was fined as a consequence. At none of the other picnics was there any liquor. Among seventy people cr more present at the picnic in question there was no other disorder, so the record may be admitâ€" ted to be very creditable. "The accident to Jack McLeod was very unfortunate," Mr. Tolman writes. "Jack McLeod slipped under the truck when it started up after stopping to let off some other members of the party upon the return trip." Writing in regard to the matter, Mr. Tolman says:â€""At the Moss we now have about twentyâ€"three families, who have all come in during the past nine months, and they and their children have had some very enjoyable picnics at Round Lake, about thirteen miles from here, at one of the most beautiâ€" ful beaches I have ever had the pleasâ€" ure of seeing. These plcnics have been held on tthange Sundays during the summer and have given an opportunity of enjoyment and better acquaintance among all employees. They have been quiet and orderly affairs." In reference to the *tevent to which the itam no doubt referred Mr. Tolman The article was checked up by J. D. Tolman, general superintendent of the Moss Gold Mines, Limited, who seems inclined to think that the item was a malicious misrepreseâ€"ntation by someone who had been discharged from the mine. In this belief, Friend Tolman, is wrong, for the corrugated gentleman who wrote the letter has not an atom of malice in his funny carcase. If Mr. Tolman knew the author of the humâ€" orism he would agree with this, but now that the attempted ‘joke missed fire the author of the bad marksmanship will have to remain anonymous for his own safety. In a recent issue The Advance had humorous reference sent in by an old friend of this paper regarding a picnic held by employees of the Moss Mines. The item menticned an unfortunate accidenet at the picnic when one man had his leg broken and4 another inciâ€" dent where two men were fined for having liquor. The friend‘s letter conâ€" cluded, "Nevertheless, a pleasant time was had by all." with h Ste. M. Tait. It has been many years since there was such a large congregation. It was necessary to put chairs in the aisles to accommodate the congregaâ€" tion. There were special anthems by the choir as well as solos and duets. On Monday night a social and sale of the produce was held. A short proâ€" gramme was enjoyed and Mr. J. G. Harris very capably auctioned off the wares, which netted a good sum. With the Sunday collections upwards of two hundred dollars was taken in. Next Sunday will be "Rally Day" and the Sunday School children are asked to be at the church at ten thirty o‘clock in the morning to assist in the morning service. The names of Miss Verner and Miss MacDonald were inadvertently omitted last week from the staff of the public school teachers.
