Bâ€"P. about the practice of cutting the cards. She wanted to know if it was comâ€" pulsory. So she wrote to a bridge exâ€" pert in the United States and asked him about it. In reply she received cordial letter explaining that the pracâ€" tice was "purely a mater of courtesy‘"‘ â€"and enclosing a bill for $10 for the advice. Now this was something she didn‘t expect, and so she immediately went to a lawyer and asked him if she was obliged to pay the bridge expert‘s In recent issues of The Advance there have been a number of references to the Pioneer Chess and Checker Club in active existence in Timmins, and there is no doubt but that both chess and checkers have many devotees in this town and district.
