Mr. Preston says that while he was fire ranger in the district he often enâ€" joyed a visit from Mr. Rondeau. "Each time Mr. Rondeau came to visit me," says Mr. Freston, "he had his rifie, and he has killed a few bears around his farm." It may be that The |Star‘s tear knew about Mr. Rondeau‘s work with the rifle; perhaps, she lost some of her friends that way; and she may have waited her chance to catch Mr. Rondeau when he hadn‘t his rifle with o read, ‘"Ramore." Mr. Preston, it will be recalled has had several letters in |The Advance reâ€" ferring to the bears at Cook Mounâ€" tain,. east of Ramore. Mr. Preston was stationed at Cook Mountain as towerâ€" man for the fire rangers for three sumâ€" mers, and is in position to give much information in the matter. Some weeks ago he wrote The Advance suggesting that a party of Timmins hunters go to the Cook Mountain area and hunt the bears thore. Had this idea been adoptâ€" »d Mr. Rondeau might have escaped injury. Mr. Preston SAYS that he has seen seven bears all at the one time quite close to Cook Mountain. Mr. Rondeau‘s farm is the closest to the Mountain, and nearly every day in May and June Mr. Preston SaAW bears crossing Mr. Rondeau‘s farm.
