However, as conditions now exist, North Bay will have to make heavy expenditures to take care of its own unemployed and those who share in direct relief. Ald. Bullbrook, in supporting the reâ€" solution, said: "We have 870 men on our doorsteps. The Government must take action. We are the dumping ground for Ontario. â€"North Bay cannot carry this burden. The Government is just making North Bay a mobilizing centre. I am tired ofâ€"writing Mr. Finâ€" layson and getting back appeasing reâ€" plies," he added. As far as the single men from North Bay who have been sent out to work on the township roads are concerned, the mayor said that it looked to him like an excuse to take care of them until the transâ€"Canada highway comâ€" plement is filled. Their work will not likely last throughout the winter and the city will have both married and single men on its hands. "‘The transâ€"Canada highway has been a detriment to North Bay instead of a relief. All kinds of men rushed into North Bay to register and now we have the Government sending men in here in carloads. The city is flooded with transients and the Government should take care of them 100 per cent," he said. Advices from North Bay on Tuesday this week are to the effect that Mayor Robert Rowe, Ald. Cherry and Ald. McColeman will interview the Proâ€" vincial Government regarding the treatment that the city has received as far as placing of unemployed on the transâ€"Canada highway is concernâ€" ed. The decision to send a delegation to Toronto followed the adoption of a resolution submitted by Ald. Bullbrook. Mayor Rowe said that he would tell the Government it was impossible to carry on under present conditions. Government Should Aid Transients Says the Bay All employees of the Company are empoawered to take orders for the stock during the Campaign. For the convenience of purchasers, the Company has announced a special savings whereby the stock can be purchased for as low as $10 cash per share and $10 per month per share, with interest at 60 per annum allowed on partial payments. The forthcoming sale of the Preâ€" ferred Stock through employees, is limâ€" ited to people living in the territory served by the Company. Only 5,000 shares are being offered. The sale will open on October 19th and will close on October 31st or earlier if the amount of stock available is sold before that time, which judging by the keen interest aâ€" roused in this sale is likely to be the Case. These developments serve to direct attention to the forthcoming Customerâ€" Ownership sale of the Company‘s 7F/( Cumulative Preferred stock. In the outâ€" standing progress which the Company hasâ€"made during the past year is found the explanation why the pirice of this stock has been maintained on the market, in the face of the serious deâ€" cline in other market securities. The new power contract obtained is that for the Kirkland Townsite Gold Mines, Limited, which is now planning develoriment on a large scale. The police seized about a gallon of liquor that had been distilled by the accused in his homeâ€"made still. The fine was paid. Three common drunks, of them being a woman, were each fined $10.00 In most of the cases at court this week the accused pleaded guilty, so there was not much doing at the court. As a result of police court cases last week not mentioned in the last issue, two jail terms are being served. Harry Soleski is serving two months in lieu of a fine of $50.00 and costs on a charge of assaulting his wife. H.
