Armand Bradette, of Cochrane, was sentenced to thirty days at Haileybury at police court this week on a charge of being drunk in charge of a car. He and Anatole Turpin were in a car that collided with F. Feldman‘s car, two of the children in the latter car being inâ€" jured, one little girl being taken to the hcespital to have a cut lip sewed. The Cochrane car did not stop at the scene of the accident, but the gocod work of Sergt. Moore resulted in the arrest of the two men after a lively chase. Turpin was fined $10.00 and costs for being drunk. Eli Dubeault and Jos. Lepine were sach given three months for being in unlawful possession Oof burglar‘s weaâ€" poens at night. They were found outâ€" side a chicken coop on Balsam street, south. Two other men on a similar charge were acquitted. A man who refused offer of work and was not suplpcrting his family was charged with vagrancy, but the case was remanded till called on to give him chance to straighten away. Another nonâ€"support case was remanded to next week. Rene Desjardins, as owner of the car concerned, was charged with failing to return to the scene of an accident. The case was adojurned to next week. Jos. Romelski, on the same charge, pleaded guilty, and was fined $25.00 For not stopping at an intersection a fins of $1.00 and costs each was imâ€" posed on two men while a third was cauticoned in this matter. Eight drunks were fined $10.00 and costs each, or thirty days, two of them taking the jail term. The police were combing the town for the accused, when they had to defer the work long enough to arrest a man for drunkenness and indegency on a side street. Then they resumed their search for Flessk, only later to find they already had him locked up on the drunk charge. On the assault chargs Flessk was sentenced to three months in jail with another month on the drunk charge. Last week R. Sinclair, proprietor of the dyeing and pressing business, Fourth avenue, was taken to the hosâ€" pital where it was found necessary to operate on him for appendicitis. The operation was successful and Mr. Sinâ€" clair is making excellent pisogress to recovery, coming through the ordeal with more ease than many a man fifty years younger. Mr. Sinclair had been ailing for several days, and was taken seriously ill on Wednesday, his removal to the hospital being necessary. His wide circles of friends will be delighted to know that he is making the very best of recovery. R.
