Apply 15 Lake Shore Road, Timmins. â€"~28â€"29p A most unfortunate accident cccurâ€" red on Monday evening at Schumacher when Rita Cicci, aged 7, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Domenico Cicci, of Schumacher, was seriously injured in an auto accident. The youngster was playing on the street when the car driven by Mr. Rubic, Third avenue, Schumacher, came along. The car was travelling at a moderate rate of speed, but a standing truck obscured the view and to make matters more diffiâ€" cult the youngster apparently became confused and ran both ways in succesâ€" sion. The driver made every effort to avoid striking the child but was not able to prevent the accident. Accordâ€" ing to the accounts given of the acciâ€" dent by Schumacher people, the child got to a rock at the side of the road near the United Church and attemptec to climb this for safety. Just as she was on the rock the car ran into it, the child‘s leg being almost severed. The youngster was at once brought to St. Mary‘s hospital, Timmins, where it was later found necessary to amputate the leg. That in our opinion the responâ€" sibility for the care of transient unemâ€" sloyed is the sole duty of the provin«â€" silal and Dominion governments. Two men were charged with unlawâ€" fully being in possession of tools that are not legally carried by honest citiâ€" zens. They were arrested near a chickâ€" en coop. The cases were remanded tco next week. Failing to stop at an intersection brought fine of $5.00 and costs. Two drunks paid $25.00 and costs each. This couple were picked up in the bush near town while the town police were searching for some men who had been annoying girls and felâ€" lows out for a stroll. Three ordinary drunks each paid $10.00 and costs. Mr. and Mrs. F. Reed and fam Sixth avenue, were guests cof f in Cobualt this week. A case arising from riding a bicycle on the sidewalk was remanded until called upon. A similar disposition was made in each of three cases where cows had been allowed to run at large. This means that no penalty is made for the Arst offence, but that subsequent charges for the same offence will UOkely be more sternly dealt with. A common assault case resulled in a fine of $20.00 and costs, a woman preâ€" ferring this charge against a local man. "8.
