YÂ¥ 9 t ABC There was a collision on the Timâ€" minsâ€"South Porcupine highway on Monâ€" ‘day evening near the Foleyâ€"O‘Brien ‘*that might easily have had more serâ€" ious results. As it was three cars went into the ditch; a young lady from Timâ€" mins had her eye cut; Migs Madeline Strangers and her brother Benlough, got some _ nasty bruises. The whole Stranges family were in their Royal 8 Reo going towards Timmins. There was a Chevrolet owned by Timmins people |ahead of them. A Ford from Sudbury coming this way seemed to get out of controlâ€"first bumping the Chevrolet and ditching it, then taking a dive at the Reo, and it went into the ditch itâ€" self along with the bigger car. The police were shortly on the scene and just where the blame was has not yet been decided. Clifford _ Schmelze and Maxwell Smith, Jr., were the two bovys who had Porcupine and has made many friends by her bright vivacity as she has grown to womanhood. Mr. Keast has been at the Dome for some time. After a motor honeymoon through Southern Ontario they will take up residence at the Preston East Dome. The good wishes of the whole camp are extended to this popular young couple for "bon vovage" through life. The Mill had the cellar position of the first half but are the uncanny experience of tiiscovering the body of the Esthonian who was drowned at Golden City on Jume 28th. The boys were "out on a pleasure cruise in a canoe when they saw what they thought at first was part of a tire rim. On coming closer they discovered that it was a man and reported to the authorities. Mr. Charles LaMothe, of South Porâ€" cupine, was the one who successfully dived for the young Italian girl who died after being taken from the Porâ€" cupine creek on Railroad street on July ist. When the alarm was given that the girl had dived down and had not come up, Mr. Armstrong, township engineer, dived but was not fortunate in locating her; then Mr. LaMothe dived and brought the body to the surface. They and a man from Timâ€" mins who chanced by in time to aid in the rescue work tried to revive her by artificial respiration. In this they were successful and the girl was taken to the hospital but owing to the fact that she had a weak heart and was said to be tubercular she did not rally and died in two hours after being adâ€" mitted to the hospital. Michaelson and H. Doran. Dick Parsons started the ball rolling (or in this case, fiying) for the Mill with a threeâ€"base hit and then romped home. Lett, who walked to first also got around the diamond giving the Mill two to the go:d in the first ininngs as the Miners got no runs. Then in the second inâ€" nings the Mill cinched their game. Mcâ€" Lean‘s pitching for the Mine was not ’up to its usual form. Johns, Mansfiels Mason touched the home plate in quick succession. Parsons fanned Longworth made the round, after. a clever steal to third McNab got home, and through an error on the part of the Miners McCann also touched the homeâ€"plate before the team went three down. This gave the Mill the heavy side of the 9â€"1 score at the end of the second, for Burke was the only one who made a tally for the Miners. In the third Mansfield was first to bat and added another to the Mill secore before Mason, Parsons and Lets went down in quick succession. Then Suthâ€" erland counted anosther run for the Mine. Dick Parsons made a praiseâ€" worthy catch of brother Tom‘s nicely placed fly. Zig stole second and got home before the third man was down. So the 4th innings started 10â€"3 for the While Quantity Lasts O 3 Tins often Mill. They had the bases full and were twodown but when Casey came to bat he struck out. Montgomery made homeâ€"run for the Mine. Tom Parâ€" sons showed brother Dick he could do just as good fielding as his brother did and the result was all out with brother Dick still on third. In the fifth Mason made the round, Parsons fanned Lett came home, Longworth was out at first, Catarello got a home run, McNabb walked but McCann fanned; 14â€"4 for the Mill did not look like good mining so the Muckers had to hunt for more paydirt. Clark, Proulx and Burke, each brought home a count and Sutherland landed with a home run. For the sixth innings Montgomery was put in the pitcher‘s box for the Mine and Johns was the only one who got a run but when the Miners went to bat McLean fanned. A nice catch by Catarello savâ€" ed Zig the trouble of making the bases and Parsons did likewise for Clark. The Mill made no further tally in the last innings but the Miners imprtroved their standing by two, Proulx and Burke doing the tricks. The final score was 14â€"10 for the Mill and one of the Scotchmen in the group remarked "Let‘s sing a psalm." The sympathy of the community has gone out to Mr. and Mrs. W.
