Boston automoblie insurâ€" ance bill will be satisfactory unless it provides penalties in the way of highâ€" er rates for careless and reckless drivâ€" ers. The records of this State and others show that a very large proporâ€" tion of the accidents are caused by exâ€" perienced driversâ€"men who seem to be getting into trouble continually. An investigation in Illinois of the records of drivers involved in fatal accidents shows that every one of them had a previous accident record. Some had been involved in three or more preâ€" vious accidents. There is a type of driver who just won‘t be careful. The way to curb these fellows is to make recklessness costly. The last three years have seen a real awakâ€" ening among the Finns in Canada and lccally the Finns are no excerttion, but have experienced in a real sense this new awakening. "The Finnish Organâ€" ization" was for years the only social crganization. Though â€"Communistic, this organization has sometimes been held up before th2 Canadians as reâ€" ligious institution. Though claiming to speak the ‘"voice of the people," its membership in this camp is underâ€" stood to be something less than two per cent. of the whole Finnish pt>puâ€" lation. The Finnish United Church was organized less than three years ago, and has grown in importance and strengtlh. Block First Meeting The first step was taken when a mass meeting of all loyal Finns was called on May 24th at the Finnich Church. The‘ expected thing happened. Long before the appointed time the Comâ€" munists filled the Church to its capaâ€" city, before too many loyal prrople would have time to come. Those who came on time had to stay on the steps outside. The purpose of the Communâ€" ists was, with the help of their comâ€" rades from Timmins and South Porcuâ€" pine of whom large numbers had come down, to crush the attempt of the loyal Finns to organize themselves in town. But their efforts to "steal" the meeting were frustrated from the very beginning, and, aside from the usual communistic gesticulation it was closâ€" ed in perfect order. Their objective was a total failure. A meeting was called for the followâ€" ing Sunday, May 3ist, to further disâ€" cuss the project. Qver sixty peorle were present, and before the meeting was over the new society was launched, with forty charter members. The meetâ€" ing was opened by Rev. E. A. Kyllonen with a short address, outlining the reaâ€" sons why this meeting had been called and why such an organization of the licyal Finns in this town was needed. When the meeting had elected H. Sanâ€" kelo as chairman and J. Hihnala as secretary, it was thrown open for free discussion. The enthusiasm with which a large number of those present spoke showed that the proceedings had their full approval. "And, whereas the Finnish Communâ€" iss in this country have by their loud conduct and much tongueâ€"wagging cast an unpleasant reflection upon all Finns in Canada, making us appear to the praceâ€"loving citizens of Canada as an undesirable and dangerous eleâ€" ment: Pass Resolution This enthusiasm broke out into a stormy applause after ‘the following resolution was read, and passed unâ€" animcusly :â€" "Whereas the recent malicious Comâ€" munist activities have created much illâ€"feeling and cdious publicity; Loyal Finns Start Society at Kirkland Attempt by Communists Fails to Upset Plans, Resolution cof Loyalty to Carnada and Condemnation of Communtm Passed by Mecting.
