Coldberg, a man of 26 years of age, who was found guilty of forgery on three different counts. Coldberg was arrested in Toronto on information sworn to by E. J. Jewitt, chairman of the union school board for the townâ€" ships of Appleby and Hagar, near Sudâ€" bury. After his arrest in Toronto the accused was returned to Sudbury for trial. Coldberg had been secretaryâ€" treasurer of the school board in quesâ€" tion for several terms and the charges against him arose from alleged irreguâ€" larities in connection with the funds of the board. It was held that during the month of February that Coldberg imâ€" properly cashed three cheques, the funds for these cheques being drawn from the school section account. The sentence being a penitentiary one was much more severe than would ordinarily be given for a theft of the amount inâ€" volved in this case, but the judge very rightly lcoked upon the defrauding of a school section as a very serious ofâ€" fence.
