Standing of the teams to date:â€" As an aftermath of the game, the local agent of the T. N. O., J. Hawâ€" kins reports the wires have been kept hot with offers from the big leagues to some of the players. Boston Red Sox want Fred Dwyer; Connie Mgck 1s after James Campbell for his outfield; Toronto Maple Leafs need Dr. Byers; Ike Solomon would like Bert Cook; and Gold Centre is chasing C. Abrams with a contract; Les. Hall has apparently turned down an offer from Drinkâ€" water Pit. The lineâ€"ups were as follows:â€" Neverâ€"Wassersâ€"Rupert,;.; Butler, p; Jucksch, 1b.; Dr. Byers, 2b.; Steve Lynn, s.s.; Bob Hall, 3b.; Frank Furâ€" ng, r.f.; James Woods, c.f.; Chas. Arâ€" nott, lf.; Louie Feldman, Stan O‘Hara, Freschette, Buederick, Fred Dwyer, Mcâ€" Dowell, Dr. Weston, subs. During the game the hat was passed among the crowd, and a donation of $17.42 was netted. This amount was turned over to the Children‘s Aid Ssociety Shelter. The game was a roaring successâ€" roars from the sidelines during the game and roars from the sore muscles next day. Sensational batting and erâ€" rorless (?) fielding was exhibited by both cutfits. The fans saw many dark horses and the players saw many stars. The feature of the day was the fielding of Louie Feldman and the mammoth clout by the Sultan of Swat, Stan O‘â€" Hara, who galloped the circuit with the runner ahead holding second base. Sandy Fulton, our local pillar of the law, started in the box for the Willâ€" Bees, and Chas. Butler, head of the money exchange, for the Wassers, but both were yanked early, owing to their inability to allow hits. They were reâ€" placed by Happy Woods and McDowell, respectively, but not respectfully. ~The improvement was not noticeable. The injuries reported to date are as follows, more or less:â€"sprained ankle, Larry Wilson; sore leg, Jimmie Woods; busted finger, Happy Woods, the injury being sustained in a fight with the umpireâ€" inâ€"chief, J. Shewan. The final resting place of the Butler Cup emblematic of the world‘s softball championship (and was it soft!) is still in doubt as a result of the hardâ€" fought struggle between the Neverâ€" Wassers and the Neverâ€"Willâ€"Bees, of Schumacher, played on Wednesday, June 25th. The following report of the historic softball game between two suspected softball teams has been kindly furâ€" nished The Advance by one of the material witnesses:â€" Roaring World‘s Championship Match Played at Schumacher Last Week, Children‘s Aid Society Given the Profits of $17.42 from Game. John Kuoppamaki, better known as John Maki, a Finlander of about 40 years of age, employed by the Canada Creosote Company near Copper Cliff, was instantly killed last week by a C.P. R. passenger train from the Sault while he was walking on the tracks. Although it was known that Maki was an employee of the Creosote Company it was several hours before he was identified. There was nothing on his person to suggest who he was and all other employees having quit for the night it was impossible to check up on them until the next day. When killed on the tracks Maki had been working at the creosote plant only a couple of days. Despmartches from Sudbury las: week says:â€"‘"Maki was crossing the C.P.R. tracks from the creosote plant to the Copper Cliff road, evidently to wait for a street car, and apparently did not see the train approaching until it was upon him.
