Apâ€" parently the Kapuskasing to Cochrane road is like the Ferguson highway in spotzâ€"only a dry weather roadway. Perhaps this is to be only expected from a new road in a new country, but so long as human nature is what it is there is sure to be some iritation, esp2â€" cially in a rainy season, when a road is not good for use even through the short season in this country. Take off all the rainy days from the short sumâ€" mer in the North and there is not any too much left. The suggestion of one traveller on the Kapuskasing to Cochâ€" rane road that if the holes were reâ€" paired at once the road could be kept passable seems to have much sound sense in it. However, The Northern Tribune, of Kapuskasing, takes the condition of the roadway from Kapusâ€" kasing to Cochrane in very sporting way. The Northern Tribune commentâ€" ing on the condition of the roadway says:â€" "Complaints have recently been made to The Northern Tribune regarding the condition of the road from Kapuskasâ€" ing to Cochrane in wet weather. One traveller over this stretch states that there are three bad holes on the road. while the remainder of the stretch is in fair condition. He suggests that a couple of men could easily repair these holes in a day. It is true that the road in question is not of the best, especially in wet weather; but it will be| remembered that when it was opened for through traffiic a short time ago this summer it was expressly stated that it was a dry weather route, and only intended to be used when the crown was dry, until the surface could be gravelled this winter and further improvement made. If travelers made use of the road at other times they did so at ghe risk of inconvenience to themselves. Kapuskasing was very very glad to have this road opened at all during the present season. Its quite extensive use has proven the need for an allâ€"weather road of the very best type between here and Cochrane, anc it is to be noped that the road engiâ€" neers of the Northern Development 2CT Branch will them to co manner ths lling has been carried out by the tario Government on the banks of Abitibi River, arrived in Sudbury s week and may be seen in the office the Sudbury Star.
