Isitt, of the New Zealand Air Force, at present stayâ€" ing in Ottawa, is studying Canadian aviation methods with a view to pickâ€" ing up any useful hints for the New Zealand force. To be Held in the Council Chamber This (Thursday) Evening for Election of Officers, Etc. The annual general meeting of the Timmins Boad of Trade will be held in the council chambers, Fourth avenue, Timmins, on Thursday (this evening), Feb. 23rd, at 8 p.m. â€" The notices sent to members by the untirâ€" ing secretary, W. O. Lduwdon say :â€"â€" CAt this meeting the electlon of offiâ€" cers will take place. You are earnâ€" estly requested to attend as there are a number of other important matters for discussion."‘ During the past year‘the Timmins Board of Trade has done the usua! amount of good work. The work of the seeretary has been particularly helpful and effective. Mr. Langdon has spent unlimited time and effort in answering enquiries, giving inforâ€" mation, and otherwise advancing the interests of the town so far as the outside public is concerned. _ While the lack of general interest and supâ€" port for the work has been apparent at times during the year, Mr. Langâ€" don bhas refused to be discouraged. He has avparently taken the attitude that he was doing his part if he did everything possible and did more than should be reasonably expected. The secretary certainly has done lms part well. If for no other reason, there should be a large attendance toâ€"night to express appreciation for the untiring and helpful work of the secretary. Of course, there are other strong reasons for interest and effort in Board of Trade work, the advantâ€" age and progress of,. the town being furthered by the efforts of the Board of Trade. All good citizens should be at the .mmml meeting of the Timmins Board of Trade this (Thursday) evening, in the council chamber, town hall, at 8 o‘celock. There are two. reasons why there should be a crowded house for the event. The first reason, of course, is that the event will be such a wellâ€"worthâ€"while one. The St. John Ambulance Briâ€" eade do everything well that they undertake and more than live up to promises made. They promise a big night on Wednesday night next, and they will more then make good. The other reason is that anything under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance â€" Brigade deserves the heartiest support from the people of Timmins and distriect. Last woeek reference was made in these columns to the excellent work done by the S.J. A.C. at the time of the disaster at the Hollinger. Their part in the rescue work was deserving of _ special note. At the same time it should not be forgotten that every day they deâ€" serve credit for the z00d work being work â€"â€"was â€" deserving oL â€"â€" speociii note. At the same time it should not be forgotten that every day they deâ€" serve ceredit for the r;()()(l work being done. On every occeasion, whether the people are at work or at play, the . John Ambulance Brigade members are on hand with their good services Their first aid at tootlmll hockey and other games has been of much service and advantage. They deserve the fullest support. It is not necessary, however, to emâ€" phasize this feature, in view of the splendid programme announced. This programme, should attract alt. ft includes :â€"skating races for boys and girls under 12 years of age; walking races for men only, entrants to wear moceasins; boys‘ race, over 12 and L came t 3 / JOAN:â€" ‘‘Yes, Daddy.‘‘ JUDGE : ‘‘Didn‘t I issue an injunction against his seeing you any * JOAN: ‘‘Yes, Daddy, but he applied to a higher court, and Mums said Â¥es‘,. â€"London Opinion, England Through our engineers, and statfs in all important mining centersâ€"â€"we render a reliable mining service in addition to our brokerage service rrand ating carniy carnival is AaAnâ€" in the Timmins Wasn‘t that under 15 years; girls‘ race, over 12 and under 15; exhibition fancy skatâ€" ing by Dr. E. 0. GOVERNMENT TO GIVE FPREEâ€"TREES FOR PLANTING Word â€"from the Department of Lands and Forests at Toronto this week is to the effecet that the. Ontario Government, through the Forestry Branch, has for distribution this year ten million forest trees. These are to be used for reforesting waste areas of the Province, and it is expected that at least threeâ€"quarters of them will be used by private individuals throughout Ontario for reforesting waste areas of the farm and for the planting. of windbreaks. The Govâ€" ernment scheme at present provides that any resident of the Province may secure 3,500 trees free for reâ€" foresting work and an additional 500 of spruce and cedar for windbreak planting. Application for trees should be made to the Ontario Forestry Branch, Parliament Buildings, Toronto. voung Smith who left the house as HOMER L. (GIBsON CO. 67 YONGE STREET â€" TORONTO, ONT.
