The fire was discovered around the bottom of the tank about 10.30 and the Kirkland Lake Fire Brigade sumâ€" moned. â€" As there was no available water supply they were unable to offer any assistance but stayed around with the crowd that assembled to watch the tank burn. The tank was about two inches thick and stood on a trestle 30 feet from the ground. Unâ€" til the fire burned through no water could be released, which took about one hour, and by that time the tank was ruined.
