His nose was slashed by a knife and cut so badly that it was feared he would be disfigured for life. However, the skill of the surgeons here has remedied the injury and the man is now all better, and so cleverly was the surgical work done that the injury is not now noticeable at all. The man suspected of committing the crime of slashing Robinson with a knife is being carefully sought and will be lnought to justice. He has been traced to several places but has apparently moved on in each case beâ€" fore he could be captured. Frederick C. E. Special to The Advance. (On Wednesday of last week, the annual pienic of the Trinity United Church Sunday ‘Sechool was held at the head of the lake. Quite, a large number of children, parents, and friends attended, and all report an exâ€" cellent time. Mrs. Harris, of Third avenue, reâ€" turned on Thursday of last week, from Toronto, where she had gone to bring home her little daughter, Florâ€" ence, who has been for the past two months undergoing treatment at the Hospital for Sick Children. The litâ€" tle girl is much better in health and all friends hope she will soon be quite well and strong again. (On Sunday the Melntyre baseball team met the South Poreupine team, defeating them by a seore of 12â€"1. The Mcelntyres are still at the head of the league and expect to win the championship. On Saturday the Melntyre football team met the Lake Shore team at Timâ€" mins. The Melntyre won by a seore of 3â€"2. In the last game the Lake Shore team won by a score of 2â€"1. Thus the two teams are still tied. Ten minutes overâ€"time was played but the seore was not changed before it became too dark to play, and the game is to be played again on Saturâ€" day next. According to many specâ€" tators, this was the best football game ever played in the North Country, both teams showing splendid form and combination, ‘but special credit is due to the MceIntyre team. The first goal was scored by Bratby. The second from a penalty was scored by Hugh Moore and the third by Alf. Cooper. In scoring this goal Alf. Cooper was knocked against the goalâ€"post, sufferâ€" ing a badly wrenched knee. Saturâ€" day‘s game promises to be very inâ€" teresting and all lovers of a good football game should endeavour to see this one. House Struck by Lightning. Power and Lights Off. But No Serious Damage Done. Many Motor Accidents in and Near Schumacher. Other Schumacher News. Mr. Juckseh, our local fire chief returned on Sunday from Hull, where he had been attending the Dominion Fire Chiefs‘ convention. He reports a most enjoyable time spent by all. There were about 158 delegates atâ€" tending, and all were entertained right royally. They were given the key to the city, visited the Internaâ€" tional Paper Mills and other big inâ€" dustries in the vicinity, also viewed all the points of interest in Ottawa. Un Monday the firemen had a call to the ‘‘White Lunch.‘‘ ‘The fire was not serious and in a few minutes was out. Monday and Tuesday seem to have been unfortunate days for motors. On Monday a ear driven by a Chinese -gentlenmn, collided _ with Dalton‘s Schumacher bus. Luckly no one was hurt, but both the bus and the car were slightly damaged. Later in the evening anothex a(‘mdvnt which might have 1)10\0(1 fatal, happened a llttle farther east, on the same road, at point â€" where ('\'(‘al\'atinn work fOl' sewers and water is being done. A car was coming from South Poreuâ€" pine, and one from Timmins. They met at point where half the road was up, also a dairy waggon was standing there. _ The driver from Ssouth l’mvupmv decided to risk goâ€" ing over the pile of logs, brush, emth, et('., at the roadâ€"side, rather than run headâ€"on into the other ear. The driver from Timmins also turned out and he hit the dairy waggon, spreadâ€" ing milk and broken huttle: around for yards. The horse ran away, but was stopped somewhere near the Goldâ€" ale. One car was bady damaged, but except for a shakingâ€"up, and minor bruises, none of the peOp]e in the cars of Dalton‘s buses figured in an acciâ€" dent. _ This was near Connaught where the bus was going special trips when it turned over. The passengers were pretty badly shaken, but otherâ€" wise unhurt. Mr. Sky from the dryâ€" goods store was not so fortunate. He suffered a broken arm which is giving him much pain. On Tuesday a very serious accident happened on the road between Timmins and Schumacher. The police car driven by Officer Cushâ€" ing ran into a ‘‘governessâ€"car‘‘ and pony. â€" The pony was so badly ingured it was later destroyed, and the driver of the pony is in the hospital, but it is understood that his injuries will not prove serious. The Rev. Ivan Kennedy and family are away for a wellâ€"earned vacation. Mrs. Corriss‘s brother, who has been visiting with her for the past month, returned on Sunday to his home in Toronto. Mrs. Eustace, of Second avenue, reâ€" ceived the sad news on Monday of the death of her mother in the Old Counâ€" try,. She had undergone an operation for appendicitis, but suffered reâ€" lapse, and passed away from heartâ€" failure. Her many friends will exâ€" tend sympathy to Mrs. Eustace in her sad bereavement. Mrs. Eustace is leayâ€" ing this (Thursday) morning for Montreal from which port she will sail for London.
