J. Kennedy, memberg for the last session was again nominated as the candidate to carry the Conservaâ€" ive banner. Mr. Kennedy explained that he had intended to retire, but he ‘had been pressed so much by friends that he had decided to allow his name to go before the convention. Five names ‘were submitted to the convention,â€"these . being:â€"W. _ A. Gordon, Haileybury; (Geo. Mitehell and A. K. Roberts, Cobalt; A.. J. Kennedy, New Liskeard; and John Clark, of Englehart.,. All withdrew but Messrs Kennedv and Clark, the former winning on the vote and Mr, Clark moving to make it unanimous. The meeting was. enthusiastic, the new temperance policy of the Ferguâ€" son Government winning special, apâ€" «proval. Fire which broke out at a late hour Wednesday night, raging until early Thurs@ay morning last week, caused a loss totalling $50,000 to four busiâ€" ness houses in Sudbury. BID NOT LONG SURVIVE } DEATH OF HER HUSBAND A letter sent, out by the secretaryâ€" treasurer of the Northern Ontario Associated Boards of, Trade specially urges all boards of trade in the disâ€" trict to have full representation at thé annual meeting to be held at Cochrane on Friday of next week, Nov. 12th. In part, the letter says: ‘*In view of the great importance of this meeting, it was felt that Cochâ€" rane, being so accessible in the disâ€" trict, would permit a large attendance from each member ‘board. _ During the coming year it is quite possible that the provineial Government will be able to spend considerably more money in our district than previously, and in order to take full advantage it is essential that the complete orâ€" ganization be held together and that the oflicers should be selected with great earé. We, therefore, urge all the member boards to make a very special effdrt to have a large repreâ€" sentation at Cochrtane on November 12th.
