A commercial traveler, visiting a large insurance office, boasted to the manager that he could pick out all the married men among the employees. Accordingly, he stationed himself at the door, as they returned from dinner, and mentioned all those he believed to be married. In â€" almost every case he was right. Accordingly last week Mr. A. Laprairie announced that this year it was arranged that there should be a number of Kosher turkeys for those of the Hebrew faith. The present membership of the Timmins Curling Club is 155, this number being the limit of those that can be accommodated now. KOSHER TURKEYS FOR CHARITY TURKEY STAG It isâ€"expected that the curling seaâ€" son for this termn will start about the first of December, weather, of course, permitting. â€" But for that matter, just as much, ‘‘of course.‘‘ weather permitting it will start even earlier, for the curlers all feel that ‘‘you can‘t get too much of a good thing.‘‘ At a meeting of the directors of the Curling Club held last week, Mr, J. Knox was elected president; Mr. I. Solomon was elected viceâ€"president ; the three remaining gentlemen on the board of directors are Messrs W. R. Rinn, A. W. Lang and H. J. Marshall. Chas. G. Pirie was appointed secreâ€" taryâ€"treasurer in succession to Mr. S. R. McCoy, who was secretary during 1925â€"1926. NEW DEFIGERS ELEGTED FOR THE GURLING GLUB Mr. J. Mr. Flowers was one of the first to sign the Group Insurance plan so that from that source alone there is a payâ€" ment of $2,000 due in addition to his private insurance, The New â€"Liskeard Speaker last week says:â€"*‘*The Speaker sent a box of Liskeard products to the Naâ€" tional Railways, Ottawa to be placed on exhibition and has received the assurance that the exhibit, consisting of potatoes, onions and apples, is considerable attention, and will result in good advertising."‘ The pole on which the accident ocâ€" curred is the last pole on the Comâ€" pany line to Ansonville. It is on this pole that Ansonville takes the current over and for that purpose they have installed an oil switch between the Co.‘s wires and their own. _ This switch is hung in between two cross pieces by metal strips, one of the strips touching the metal brace on the lower crosspriece. ~Something in the oil switch burned out and made the whole switch alive which in turn made the brace on the lower cross piece alive. In order to get up to look at the switch the linemen grasp this iron brace while standing on a similar iron brace of the cross piece below. This iron brace in turn is grounded by a telephone wire which runs down the pole and eonnects up with the pumphouse, so that standing on this cross piece, a man touching the iron brace connected with the switch would get the full 2200 volts. At 11.00 a.m. a gang of men under Mr. Flowers, the lineman foreman were ~sent to ascertain what was wrong. _ Mr. Flowers went up the pole himself to the platform. â€"George Gigâ€" nac and John Shorkey were standing below and heard him say, ‘‘Oh!‘‘ and he then fell backwards, hitting his head on the coal pile Dr. Young was called and found the ‘same burns on the hands and ev1denee of death from electric shock., Immediately the current was cut off and Superintendent Thistlewaite and Elliott Little went out to test the line in every possible manner to ascerâ€" tain the cause of the accident. one there who ‘could go up the pole. This was at 10.00 a.m. Elliott Little and George Gauthier went down, the coroner and doctor being there then. On Sunday night there was some trouble on the electric light line beâ€" tween the mill and Ansonville. Mr. QOuellette was looking around for the trouble and went up the pole nearest the Wye where the Wye takes over the current and where they have a switch for that purpose, One of the most tragie happenings of recent years in Iroquois Falls was on Sunday night and Monday foreâ€" noon when Arthur Quellette, lineman for Ansonville and Thomas F.
