He had only been ill about three weeks. The late Mr. MceMahon lived in the North ) for. about 20 years. He had conâ€" ducted a grocery store in Moneta for _some years past and was wellâ€"known and well liked in the district. Among the near relatives surviving are four brothers, one of whom, J. E. Meâ€" Mahon, now of Rochester, New York, was formerly a resident of Timmins. He came to Timmins for the funeral. The funeral took place this week at Haileybury, the deceased‘s former home. . The news of the death of Daniel J. MeMahon will be received with deep regret by wide circles of friends in Timmins and other parts of The victim of children‘s play, Anna May MeKee, three years of age, daughter of Mxr. and Mrs. William McKee, has lost hey left eye, which had to be removed at the Sick Childâ€" ren‘s Hospital, Toronto, to which inâ€" stitution she was taken after the acâ€" cident. The little girl was sitting on the verandah of a neighbour‘s house when she was struck in the eye by a stick throwp by a boy at play nearby. The Canadian Girls in Training held a pleasant party and weiner roast at the lookout tower near the Vipond Mine on Monday night. The A.S.D. orchesâ€" tra furnished delightful music. A Gtand Masquerade Ball will be held in the Recreation Hall on Tuesday evening, 26th inst. The Schumacher Social Club had a very successful term last season, cards, dancing and other social features being enjoyed. The meetings were well patronized and everybody was well pleased with the social evenings presented. The Club is looking forward to still greatâ€" er success and enjoyment this year. Mrs. ‘Telford, sister of Mrs. M. Ritchie, became dangerously ill while a visitor in town and her condition necessitated her immediate removal to her home in Shawville, Quebee.
