Ganton worked down and passed to Lawrence who skated too far and missed a good chance. The Falls forward line came down in nice combination only to have Levine save. Duffy pressed and passed to Lever who was in good position but shot wide. Couture grabbed the puck and showed some speed, going right through the Falls whole team, and sending in a fine shot, which Mills turned aside. Frllman came back with Lever and Duffy. Greco intercepted the pass and went up and shot from outside the defence. _ Mills had no difficulty in stopping. Timmins missâ€" ed a chance here to score as Ganton was unmarked and ready for a pass. Rowan was checked by Ganton who sent in a hot shot that Mills saved. Penalties®were being handed the Timâ€" mins team, though the fans in most cases could not understand why, and at the same time tripping and interâ€" ference on the part of the Falls team did not seem to be noted. Rowan and Melntyre pulled off a nice combined attack, getting clean through, but Leâ€" vine saved what looked like a sure goal. There was a big attendance at the Rink last Thursday for the second match in the N. 0. H. A. Junior series and the first to be played here. There were a couple of hundred fans over from Iroquois Falls by special train for the event. The game played was worth the good attendance and more. Indeed, one oldâ€"time hockey fan who has not missed a single game for years, described Thursday‘s match as the best he had seen in Timmins. Cerâ€" tainly, it was lively hockey and mighty interesting and thrilling from the spectators‘ viewpoint. The Timmins team certainly put up a great old There was naturâ€" ally disappointment that they did not win, after playing so well. But the boys want to note and remember this : that the crowd in general was just as pleased with them as if they had won: The game‘s the thing, and one team has to lose. When the boys put up hockey like they did Thursday night, giving all they have, and working faithfully every minute, they can be assured that, win or lose, everybody‘s behind them. The following is a summary of the mateh : The lineâ€"up: Eskimosâ€"Mills, goal; Fillman ‘and Rowan, defence; Lever, centre; Mcâ€" Intyre, right; Duffy, left; Trottier and Smith, spares. Timmins showed greatly improved form over the game at the Falls. Inâ€" deed, one would hardly recognise it as the same team, especially in the seâ€" comd, third and overtime periods. While the Falls won the decision, 4 to 3, nevertheless it was really Timâ€" mins game. The Falls supporters reâ€" congnized this and were generous in their praise of the good work of the Timmins team. The referee failed to give satisfaction in the first period, giving Timmins apparently the worst of it in penalties and offsides, but in the balance of the game little fault could fairly be found wih his work. Just why he should centre on Greco, a clean little player, puzzled many, but as Greco played the game like a good little sport, it all worked out all right. Timmins Had the Edge on the Play Practically Throughâ€" out, but the Falls Edged Out in the Last Period of Overâ€" time the Score being 4 to 3. One of the Best Hockey Matches Ever Seen Here. Everybody Delighted with the W ork of the Timmins Lads. BARRISTER, SOLICITOR, ETC. Took 30 Minutes Overtime To Settle Thursday‘s Game Goal Summary lst Period 12.25 Third and last spasm :â€"Melntyre and Lever came down; Greeo checked and goes down and was in front of Mills, about to shoot when Duffy tripped him up and goes off. Rowan took a fancy to a long high shot and sent it over and put a horseâ€"shoe on it; the puck skimmed through the air and glanced off Levine‘s arm into the net for the winning goal. From now on Timmins «ontinually bambarded Mills, while Levine looked om went on for the last seven minutes and the Falls net had horseâ€"shoes~strung all round it. Mills had to retire for a few minutes for stopping the puck with his face. He gamely eame on again to finish up. The gong rang exactly at 12 midnight. The Falls team are a wellâ€" balanced team and play a very good game. Charlebois went down and shot but Mills was playing a great game in goal and had some luck with him to help things out. Couture got through again. Mills saved. #Levine cleared from Melntyre and Mills saved from Lawrence at the gong. The first spasm was fast and furiâ€" ous. Mills had three shots to save right off and was lucky in saving the last one from Lawrence. Levine had the next on him from Duffy and cleared. Charlebois went down and sent in a terrific shot which went over the net. Rowan broke away. Levine. cleared. Lawrence missed a good chance at (the gang for a change over. (Greed got the puck and skated right through and shot wide when he only had Mills to pass. He again got through but overskated the puck and on his third trip he was taid out. Second spasm:â€"Levine saves close one. Greco went down and passed; no one there to take it. Lever came down but shot wide. .Greco went down with Charlebois, the pass being offside. Duffy and Melntyre have a try. Mace missed the net. Greco again went down and went right through only to have Mills rob him with a beautiful save. Charlebois was working hard back checking all over the ice which broke up the comâ€" bination plays of the Falls. The second period was much better hockey,Timmins getting down to comâ€" bination in better form. There were endâ€"toâ€"end rushes, Levine getting the first shot to clear. At the other end Ganton went across the ice to check Fillman and fell before reaching the man and was promptly given a term in prison for it. While Ganton was off Charlebois got the puck and sent in a nice shot which was diverted into the corner of the net off Fillman‘s stick. Timmins were now having all the play. . Lawrence missed a good chance by being a little too slow in shooting. Timmins tried a threeâ€"man combination and got through. Charâ€" lebois had the goal at his merey but passed the puck to Lawrence who was closely watched. Mcelntyre went down with Lever but were checked by Greco, who tried to break through the Falls defence but was sandwiched, both men having their sticks high, but the referee allowed this to pass. Couture came down and passed out to Boyd who went down the boards and passed the puck right in front of the goal but no one was there to slam it in. The period ended Falls 3â€"Timmins 2. The third spasm was a humdinger. Ganton came down. Lever checked; Ganton tried to regain and Lever threatened to fight. Ganton put up his hand to guard himself, but the referee banished them both. Charleâ€" bois followed these two. Falls now had a chance to increase their score, but they could not break down the Timmins defence. Couture came down and shot. Lawrence notched the reâ€" bound in and evened up in spite of the two men being off. There was a real battle for supremacy, the game being very fast but neither side could beat the goalies and the gong went, and overtime had to be played. shy, Boyd and Lawrence went down. Boyd stickhandled his way through and passed to Lawrence who seored on a nice shot. The Falls came right back, with a combined rush. Levine again saved. Mills then had a trying time and had Timmins played comâ€" bination they might have had a good lead. Rowan relieved and came down. Levine saved. The Falls were playing a fine combination game but found the Timmins defence much improved from the previous game at the Falls, exâ€" cept on one occasion when Fillman rushed down and the defence stepped aside and let him skate in on Levine to score. Ganton and Charlebois both tried out Mills but they could not get the puck in. The Falls came right back. Rowan had a good chance, if he had passed the puck to Lever who was in front of the net, but was conâ€" tent to shoot himself, which Levine saved. The Falls pressed hard. Lever came down and passed to Duffy, who was kept at the boards, passing it back to Lever (who was away offâ€" side) but seored, Timmins tried again, but could not break through the defence. Rowan stickhandled his way down and scored on a good shot, at the gong Greco shot which Mills saved Falls 3â€"Timmins 1. THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE, TIMMINS, ONTARIOQ. One shooting feature was in the overtime period when Charlebois shot the puck up near the roof through a window and clean onto the street for a home run. * They have a goalie with both aunusual skill and the best of luck. Timmins tearmm showed up well. Every man on the team played his best, and that best, mighty good. Last week while Mr. Ben Jacobs was changing the collar on the young pet bear cub that he has had for some months, the animal without the slightest warning made a sudden grab at Ben‘s hand and inflicted a nasty and painful bite that lacerated the palm and back of the hand. The bear cub has been kept in the yard at the rear of the store and being teased on occasion by boys and others has perhaps lost its natural good temâ€" per. any case, last week it snappâ€" ed the hand that has fed it, thus showing too much human tendency and forsaking the natural attributes of the bear. While the injury is a painful one, noâ€" serious results are anticipated from the injury to Mr. Jacob‘s hand, the injured member making good progress to recovery. A swelling that never hurts is the bump of good nature. ~ MR. R. J. ENNIS RETURNED WITH RECOVERED HEALTH Mr. R. J.
