J. Kent has left Timmins for Cornwall, England, for a few months‘ holiday with his wife and family. His many friends here will wish him a pleasant trip and hope to see him back in Timmins in a few months‘ time, as he is very/popular here. â€" ‘‘The Trappers Will Do!‘‘ says The North Bay Nugget. As Hee. MeQuarrie would say, ‘*Timmins isn‘t a whole lot better than the Trapâ€" pers."‘ The Haileyburian last week says :â€" ‘‘Mrs. Clifford Ferguson, who has been visiting her parents in North Bay, stopped off in Haileybury over the weekâ€"end.‘‘ There will be general regret at the fact that Mr J. B. Pare has been conâ€" fined to his home through illness, but all will be pleased to know that he is now well on the way to complete reâ€" covery. } _ Bornâ€"In Timmins, Ont., at Mrs. Farley‘s Hospital, on Tuesday, Deâ€" cember 22nd, 1925, to Mr. and Mrs. W. Bromley, of Gold Centre,â€"a daughter. \ _ Many friends will be pleased to know that Mr. Frank J. Curnow this week is considerably improved in health. For some weeks past he was seriously ill at his home here, but there is decided improvement in his condition this week, though it will be ‘_Mr. F. J. Wolno left this week to spend Christmas at Montreal where Mrs. Wolno and little son have been for some weeks on a holiday visit} . Mr. W. G. Keddie, of the Canada Life Assurance Co., Ottawa, Ont., was the guest of his brother, Mr. C. Keddie, of the Hollinger Stores. | a couple of weeks before he will be able to ‘be out and around again. Wishes for his early and complete reâ€" covery are very many and very sinâ€" cere,> President P. MeCool, of North Bay, visited Timmins this week in charge of the North Bay Junior Hockey teamâ€"the Trappers. Mr. MceCool exâ€" plained that his lads from the Bay had practically no practice yet this year, but would show up better as the season went along,. He was well pleased with the result of the match here, and had gogd words for the Timâ€" mins team.\ Once more it may ‘be noted that all communications sent in to A newspaper office should be signed, not necessarily for publication, but as an evidence of good faith. This week The Advance received a letter referâ€" ring‘to the giving of presents at Christmas time. As there is nothing to suggest to The Advance the origin of the letter, and as the views expressâ€" ed are not those of The Advance, the ideas go unrecorded in these columns. The writer of the letter in question or anyone else has a perfect right, of course, to ‘the views held, but has no exeuse for expecting anyone else to father those views. \_Mr. Frank Lendrum, of The Northâ€" ern News staff, Cobalt was a visitor to town last week. It is expected that Haileybury‘s new hotel will be completed and ready for business in March, 1926, One of the best gifts for your boy or girl is a business training. Winter Term Classes begin January 4th, 1926 Timmins Business College. â€"81. The new building being erected, opposite the Gordon Blocl\, for the Bank of Commerce, is rapidly nearing completion, _ Miss W. Rutherford, of the High School staff, left on Saturday mornâ€" ing for the Christmas vacgtion.} The next regular meeting of the Town Council is scheduled for Monâ€" day afternoon of next week, Mr. Henry, assistant principal of immins High School left last week to spenq\ the holiday at Stratford, Ontario. | ® Timmins and District Notes IT WAS ANOTHER MAN WHO LAID THE THEFT CHARGE. Writing last week from Arnprior, Mr. John Kilgour points out that he was not the person laying the charge of theft against A. Carpenter in conâ€" nection with a dispute over the ownerâ€" ship â€"of a dog. In its police court news The Advance gave the name of the complainant in the case as ‘*John Kilgour.‘‘* This was incorrect the complainant being W. Kilgour. As Mr. John Kilgour points out, The Adâ€" vance pught to be more careful in using xg)eople’s names in police court news. A lot of folks feel that way about it. The Advance does the best possible, and keeps the number of errors down to a minimum. The trouble however, is that there is a kick naturally if the wrong name is used by accident, and a bigger kick someâ€" times if the right name goes in. There was a fair sized audience at the Goldfields Theatre on Sunday afternoon for the lecture on the ‘‘Rehabilitation of Palestine,"‘ the lecturer being Mr. â€"W. Sargeant, of the lecture staff of the International Bible Students Association. Mr. Sargeant proved a capable and eloâ€" quent speaker and his address was listened to with great interest, even bysthose who did not accept all his conclusions. The speaker looked upâ€" on the return of the Jewish people to a home in Palestine as a very evident fulfilment of Bible prophecies reâ€" garding the Millenium. He referred also to peace and war and kindred topies, urging that all wars and rumâ€" ors of war are also but the fulfilment of, the prophecies and but proofs of the Millenium period. \\A battle royal was staged on Saâ€" turday night at the Timmins Curling Rink when a rink comprising the pick of South Poreupine defeated a rink of Timmins Curlers by good margin. The rink from the South End consistâ€" ed of Dr. Sullivan, Wm. Peéarce, Jas. Boyle and Skip Geo. E. Cole. The Timmins Rink, which was defeated, consisted, of Col. Murdie, E. Bolger, Hee, Montgomery and Skip J. E. Grassett. INTERESTING ADDRESS BV I.B.S.A. LECTURER * *o * * + 5.h J L J 35 0b / â€"CURTIS OPTICAL CO.
