THIS YEAR. afsoI0N OF LESIGLATURE BFFORE ANY ELEGTIONS Haileybury has decided not to place a Junior team this year in the N.0O. HA The why and the wherefore is described in the following paragraph from the last issue of The Haileyâ€" burian :â€" Premier Ferguson Suggests Even Byâ€" Elections Will be Deferred Until After House Meets. ‘‘A meeting of the hockey enthuâ€" siasts of the town was held in The Haileyburian office last night when it was decided that it would be imposâ€" sible to enter a team in the Junior series of the N.O.H.A. this season. Word was received from those in charge of the new arena to the efâ€" fect that it would hardly be possible to have ice ready before the middle of February, and the fans present deâ€" cided it would not be playing fair with the boys to ask them to travel to Cobalt and New Liskeard for pracâ€" tices and to play at least two of their early ‘‘home‘‘ games on foreign ice. It was felt that it would be better to let the boys who only had one more season of junior hockey left join with the team which they played for last winter, and when the ice is ready in the local arena, organize a town league of about four junior teams, and from this material get a line on the possibilities of a squad for the N.O.H.A. next season. A committee He sarcasticallyâ€"*‘‘You know some one has said, If you would make a lasting pair of shoes, take for the soles the tongue of a woman.‘‘ Sheâ€"‘‘Yes, and for the uppers the cheek of the man who said it."" SARCASTIC Cobalt people will please note that The Advance has no part or parcel in the suggestion that Cobalt girls are bolder even than the men of Cobalt. The suggestion comes from _ The Northern News, of Cobalt. The Adâ€" vance would not even think of pubâ€" lishing the horrible paragraph, only â€"we do not wish to miss so good a chance. But, anyway, here is the paragraph from The Northern News, with the comment that in the civilized North up here the men will not let their garters down until they are home with the blinds drawn down. But The News says:â€"‘‘Is the male the shrinking sex, and the female the more daring? Is it true that skirts would be shorter and female revelation even more pronounced if it were not for the restraints that men imâ€" pose upon their womenfolks? While anybody at a dance, or on the street upon a windy day, can see many a girlish garter, and plenty of that which it lovingly enfolds and accentuâ€" ates, no woman ever sees a mannish garter. This though struck home when we happened to catch a glimpse of a solid Cobalt business man (one of those chaps who really thinks he‘s a man of the world) sneaking between a couple of houses. The reportorial nose for news sniffed, and discovered this modest, shrinking violet of a heâ€"man blushingly adjusting a garter which had slipped its moorings. Ladies and gentlemen, we fear the answers to the above qustions are in the affirmative. Another illusion gone smash. In addition to very complete inforâ€" mation on every reputable Canadian mine there are several pages of inâ€" formation indisponsdhle to any person interested in mining investments. This data includes authorized brokerâ€" age for trading in mining stocks on t]u, Standard ]< xchange, clearing of the Standard Iu:\('hang'e in the past year, mineral output, highs and lows for various stocks and a general reâ€" view of mineral production in Canada in 1924.
