Over seven hundred feet of Diaâ€" mond Dril)} Core was shipped Monday from the Huddlestone Group _ of Claims in Cody Township to Rochester Timmins where they will be assayed. _ The formation consists of Quartz and Schist and heavily mineralized and is similan to that of some of our best mines. Diamond Drilling was started on March 9th under the dirgection of Consulting Engineer, H. H. Waters, A.LM.M., M.I.M.E., representative of the British Interests who have the property under option, _ The group compnises 16 claims in a‘ll and are situated in the Northwest corner of Cody Township. A Contract was let for 3000 ft. of Diamond (Drilliag. The property was examined by the same people some time ago and assays to date have ‘been very encouraging. The Consulting Engineer will accomâ€" pany the shipment of core and samples to Rochester. The results are exipesctâ€" ed to be far above the average in view of the fact that the Quartz is heavi‘ly Schisted â€"throughout. Under these conditions it was almost impossible to keep the core together and the Drglis had to work much slower than regular speed. A most satisfactory repont is expected from these promising gronp of claims in the near future. The Township and Council are to be complimented on the prompt a¢â€" tion they have taken in clearing the snow and ice off of the sidewalks on the Main streets of the town, making it pleasant as well as safe for pedesâ€" trians to travel, besides allowing them the long sought opportunity of again getting a good trip on the Terra Firma.. At the Court Sittings on Thursday held in the Council Chambers, two men received small fines foy drunkâ€" enness; another case of Highâ€"grading cost the victim a fine of $300,00 or two months. â€"On account of the previous atod record of the man in this case, ,i’lagistra.te Atkinson was very favourâ€" able. Another man received a sentâ€" ence of seven years. No, he didn‘t break a mirror, Fate was indeed k1iad to him allowing him a short term. Very good reports have ‘been coming from the Johnny Jones claims in Deloro, where a gang of men have being working away all winter. Prosâ€" pectors who have examined some of the ore on the propenty ‘claim it is the hbeist looking stuff that has come out for some time. ([The news was surprising to many who were not aâ€" ware of the activity that has ‘been ing on in this Township and more enâ€" couraging results ane expected from other properties as well as the Jones properties in Deloro. Mr, Alee Holovica is among the first to start bulildings His residence next to Tom Ryan‘s Ibeautiful bungaâ€" low, will when completed have anoth»er story ‘with a.gableâ€"roof of neat apâ€" pearance, which will add to the value of other finelooking residences on A small gang of men are working on the James Claims, about four miles South of South Poreupine in the Township of Delora. _ Considerab‘le work been done on these properâ€" ties to date and assays obtained are satisfactory enough to warrant, instalâ€" lation of a smiall mill which will most likely se erscted during the course of tre coming Summer. â€" Adjoining c simâ€"hclders are watchine with keoen interest the developments of JA claims which will no doubt help t in Socating ore bodicis on their res tive properties. Much activity is pected in this section during the : few months. the nc Jame»s N $ Who were the two unfortunate felâ€" lows who stopped at the Rea Hill on Friday for a smoke? Apparently they were sitting in the back seat of a car whene a can of gasoline was beâ€" ing kept, when the fumes ignited setâ€" ting the car aftivre and burning off the top, and spoiling a perfectly good sociâ€" able chat. We call that tough luck. Several of the young men in the "*Flattering Class‘‘ have been wonâ€" dering who all the strange young ladies are in town. Don‘t get excited boys, we will put you right. The ladies are the same sweet young ladies that you have been looking at right along only they are a bit eamouflaged with their new brilliant Easter Bonnets. _ It‘s strange how a nice new hat will make a young man feel old. One man alâ€" most made the mistake of flirting with his own wife. The milliner surely must be working with Cupid. The auction sale of the New Finnâ€" lander Boarding House owned by Mrs. Ida Salo, took place on Monday, Tom Strain acted as auctioneer. On acâ€" count of the high reserve bids no sale was made. Mr. W. P. Murphy of Toronto, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilson last week.. Mr. Murphy being a talented musician was accorded the pleasure of assisting the Poreupine Goldfields Band at their concert on Sunday eve. _ While he did justice to the baritone he was playing, several oldâ€"timers were wishing he could have rendered a cello solo, the instrument upon which he is claimed to be an artist.
