"Nothing But the Truth‘‘ the Comedy Play in three acts, gave the South Enders something different on the entertainment list last week at the Majestic Theatre, and many were disâ€" appointed at not having been able to attend" the performance, which was for one night only. _ The criticisms and comments in general were highly favourable and could not be otherâ€" wise as the play was one laugh from start to finish, with a good climax. The machinery is brand new and of the latest type. The manager, Mr. J. A. Quesnel, informs us that he intends South Porcupine, March 16th. to give his customers the best in prices and service, as well as darnâ€" ing socks and sewing on buttons beâ€" fore laundry is returned. This will be welcomed by many of the Bacheâ€" lors, who are now wearing the ‘‘Big Toe Sox.‘‘ More machinery is on the road to make the outfit complete and which will" rank as one of, the best Laundries in the Camp. â€" The New Method Laundry is located on Railâ€" road Street near the railroad track. _ Very encouraging news has come in from Bristol and Turnbull Townâ€" ships. The assays from this section are exceptionally high and several tons of the rock has been brought inâ€" to town and run through one of the local mills with extraordinary results. Their many friends join us in wishâ€" ing them prosperity and longevity. Evangelical Lutheran Services will be conducted at the Majestic Theatre on Easter Sunday at 8.00 p.m., by Pastor W. E. Biensenthal, The town tractor made short work | of moving the last of the buildings on \ the Old King George Hotel Site, last week. The building was escorted to its new resting place on J. Turcotte‘s lot, where it will be remodelled and made into a dwelling. The job of moving took about twenty minutes and a_ large crowd. of spectators watched the manoevers with interest. The Porcupine Goldfields Band will | hold a Band Concert in the Majestic Theatre on Sunday Eve., after the: church â€" services. _ Those attending will kindly take notics that the doors will not be open until 8.30 p.m., and no children will be admitted. There will be a big Dance in Aid of the Poreupine Goldfields Band in the New School Hall on Easter Monday. Colombo‘s Orchestra will furnish the music for the occasion. ‘‘Darwin Was Right,‘‘ the Special Production, featuring Max, Moritz and Pep, the human monkeys of twoâ€" reel comedy fame, will be shown at the Majestic Theatre on FridAy and Saturday, this week. You will have to see this picture before you can deâ€" cide for yourself the origin of man. From all reports theâ€"Rink will be closed after Saturday of this week. In spite of the severe weather and snowâ€"storms, the Rink has enjoyed a favourable season. Mrs. Frank Evans entertained at bridge last week. Among those preâ€" sent were Mrs. Hardy, Mrs. Laidlaw, Mrs. Kemsley, Mrs. Donaldson and Mrs. Gauthier, all from Timmins. A lovely luncheon was served and enâ€" joyed by all. Considerable work has been done lately on the group of claims owned by the Great Northern Development Co., in the township of MeArthur. Thirtyâ€"six claims have been surveyed. The results obtained to date have heen very encouraging. Work has been discontinued until after the breakâ€"up, when an extensive surface developâ€" ment will be gone into, with a view to opening up larger veins. â€" Next Summer and Fall should bring very good news from this section of the camp. 2 s o % n o7 ds > 0. A very serious fire occurred on Friâ€"| day of last week when the residence of Mr. LaSchans on Railroad street, menaced the surrounding buildings. The fire happened shortly after 4.00 p.m. and was not noticed until the whole upstairs was .in flames. . The Fire brigade were very prompt and after laying an extra line of hose connected directly to the pump, made short work of the conflagration. The damage is estimated close to $2,500.00 which was partly covered by insurâ€" ance. It looks like Cupid landed a few more victims last weék. We have noticed some very conspicuous lookâ€" ing jewelry on the left hand of some of our most popular girls. _ One of the young lz‘dies seems to have beâ€" ‘come interested in music all of a sudâ€" den. Other South Porcupine The Provincial Grand Lodge of the Orange Order met last week at North Bay and several North Land men were honoured by high office in the Onder. Rev. Mr. Baker, of Cochrane, was elected Provincial Grafid Chapâ€" lain and Councillor L. H. Saunders, of North Bay, was elected Deputy Provincial Grand Master. ‘Rev. Mr. Lawrence, formerly of Cochrane, was elected Provincial Grand Master, Capt. Cornthwaite, S. A., of Timmins, was among the delegates attending the Provineial meeting at the Bay.
