The El Shadi Bible Class of the Presbyterian Church held its annual elz@ction of officers in the basement of the church last Wednesday evenâ€" ing and is away again to another good year‘s work. The officers for the present year are as follows:â€" Presidentâ€"Clair Severt; First Viceâ€" â€"Marion Wilson;, Second Vice Wm. McHugh; Secretary â€" Greta Robinson; Treasurerâ€"Mabel Smith; ‘Organistâ€"Mr. Park; _ Asst.â€"Organist â€"Miss Wilson. Convenors of comâ€" mittees of five members each were elected and the following shows that the class will have a varied and wellâ€" outlined programme for the coming year. Convenor of the Paper Comâ€" mitteeâ€"John Prince; Social Program _At a children‘s party a little boy was attempting to twist a litile girl‘s arm. The little girl, a vigorous and determined young person, managed to stnuggle free, and,.as she did so, hurled at her tormentor the indigâ€" Committeeâ€"Ethel Richards; Educaâ€" tional Program â€" Committee â€" Vera Jackson; Musical Program Commutâ€" tee â€" Zada Wright; â€" Refreshment Committeeâ€"Edith Greer; _ Visiting Committeeâ€"Dorthy Dodge. The soâ€" cial program committee is in charge of the first and third Wednesday evenings each month, the educationâ€" al program committee in charge of the second and the musical program committee in charge of the fourth. An attendance contest, captained by Edith Greer, and Charlie Mann, is being staged the first quarter of this year, and the entertainment of Jack Melntosh‘s team by Fern MeCarthy‘s losing team in the last quarterly conâ€" test is taking place tonight (Wedâ€" nesday) in the church basement. One and all are cordially invited to attend either or both of the Sunday discussion classes at 3.30 andâ€" the Wednesday evening socials at 8 p.m. in the chureh. Mr. Uttley, the President of the Ciub, in a pleasing speech thanking the ladies for their entertainment, reâ€" minded his audience that the first Saturday in February the election of »~oflicers for the coming year will take place, and also announcing that on Feb. 30th a Dance for the Benefit of the Lanceashire Football Club will be held, to endeavour to wipe out the adverse balance on the books of the Club. Tickets will be $1, ladies free, and all sportsmen, even if they canâ€" mot attend the dance, should be preâ€" pared to assist so worthy a cause. Dancing was enjoyed up to 12.00 p.m., a novelty card dance being much appreciated, when everybody went homewards much pleased with a very fine entertainment. PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS ANNUAL MEETING Miss Kitty Duckfield, a very clever child artist, entertained the company with a dance, and in request to reâ€" peated encores gave a very fine exâ€" hibition of clog dancing, this it«mn particulanly pleasing the Lancashire audience; and bringing out the talentâ€" ed artist‘s best efforts, which were much appreciated, and numerous reâ€" quests were turned in to the commitâ€" tee fon further appearances of this itme for future socials. Refreshments were served by the Ladies, and Mr. Mannsey entertainâ€" ed the company with his Banjo in a pleasing manner, rendering â€" several solos. Mrs. Barrett, whose first public appearance in Timmins as a vocalist, ably accompanied by Mr. Cunliffe at the piano, gave a magnificent renderâ€" ing of **Angus MceDonald,""‘ her pleaâ€" sing contralto voice, and finished rendering of this number carrying the audience into tremendous _ applause, and gaining furthen praise by singing in exceptionally fine style, ‘‘Someâ€" where a Voice is Calling.‘"‘ Barrett can be assured of a warm welcome at any future appearance on the concert platfonm in Timmins. Ladies‘ Night at the Lancashire Club held in The Hollinger Recreation Hall on Saturday night eclipsed all previous records as a social and musiâ€" eal treat, a very large attendance of members and visiting friends, anticiâ€" pating a good time, were early asâ€" sembled, and enjoyed several dance numbers to get warmed up. Mackie turned over the meeting to Mr. R. H. Gray, who very capably filled the chair and ably conâ€" ducted proceedings for the balance of the evening. In his introductory reâ€" marks, Mr. Gray said the evening was a treat, as it were, from the ‘‘*fortunates‘‘ of the Society to the ‘* unfortunates."" His â€" humorous classification â€"~won a laugh but the ‘"‘treat‘‘ suggestion was taken with Scottish seriousness, and the exeelâ€" lent programme amply justified this expectation of a specially attractive evening. Dancing featured the evenâ€" ing, the best of music being furnished by the Caledonian Orchestra, includâ€" ing Messrs A. (Gordon and J. Bridges on the violin, and Mr. Cunliffe at the piano. The first vocal selection set a particularly high standard. It was u; solo by Mr. D. R. Twaddle, whose fine voice and effective rendition, made a decided hit. Mr. Twaddle won a very enthusiastic and hearty encore and his responding number was equally well received. There was a very general desire that this fine singer may be heard frequently at the Caledonian gatherings. Mr. J. Lidâ€" dell‘s fine voice was again heard to advantage and as usual he delighted all with his capable and expressive singing. Mr. W. Thompson was anâ€" other singer of outstanding merit and attractive voice whose selections were specially appreciated. He was enthuâ€" staistically eneored. Miss Harman deâ€" lighted the gathering with a very pleasing solo, in fine voice, that won very decided encore. Another much apprectated item on the programme was the solo given by Mrs. T. Twadâ€" dle, who won the heartiest applause for her talented singing and her gifted voice. In response to the rousing encore, Mrs. Twaddle favourâ€" ed the gathering with a second numâ€" ber that was much appreciated. Among the dances, there were several Old Land numbers that were specâ€" rally appreciated, as well as some atâ€" tractive novelties. _ _ The Cinderella Dance was a specially amusing item, all entering heartily into the spirit of this selection. The dancing waus so generally enjoyed that encores were the order of the evening. A very hearty vote of thanks was very enâ€" thusiastically, and unanimously, passâ€" ed to the Bachelors for the fine proâ€" gramme, the generous luncheon, and the allâ€"round happy evening, the moâ€" tion being made by the President and seconded by everybody else together. The gathering dispersed with the isingâ€" ing of ‘‘Auld Lang Syne,"" and the National Anthem. During the evening, President Macâ€" kie made reference to the expected departure of two valued members, Mr. and Mrs. Hall, who return this week to Auld Scotia. Mr. and Mrs. Hall were sincerely wished bon voyage and all happiness and success in their native land. They were also made Honorary Members of the Society, as an expression of the friendship and goodwill of the memâ€" bers. To the kind words and good wishes, Mr. Hall made brief but feliâ€" citious reply. n * mnamnam m ts ns ie m t ns Sm cant smm uc ucesmm omm ce mm uies ces es us +Â¥ During kie made departure Mr. and this week Mrs. Hall Mn W.
