THE WAWBEWAWA WAY FOR CATCHING RATS AND MICE (On more than one previous occasâ€" ion The Advance has reproduced the odd whimsicalities of the Wawbeâ€" the cornespondent lives, the New Luisâ€" keard Speaker. In reading these exâ€" travaganzas it would be just as well to remember that Wawbewawa, where the correspondent lives, and New Lisâ€" keard, where the newspaper is pubâ€" lished, both voted ‘*dry‘‘ in the reâ€" cent Plebiscite. Whether the writâ€" ing comes from the attitude of mind that causes such a vote, or the vote comes from the mentality that causes the whimsicalities, must remain a question â€" for ~ argument. Perhaps, that London, â€" England, . newspaper could draw a lesson or point a moral as to the type of intelligence that would produce the following from the last batch of correspondence in The Speaker, from Wawbewawa :â€" ‘"Here is the new way to catch miceâ€"Get a nice piece of cheese go to your bedâ€"room, say your prayers, get into bed, then eat your cheese, lie on your back and keep gstill,> with your mouth wide open, and pretty soon the rats will smell the cheese. First they‘ll hunt around the floor, then under the bed. And at last get on the bed, but you must keep awful still or you‘ll frighten them away. They approach your mouth, look in, then start to go in, their moustache tickles your tongue, the ears are past your lips, now‘s your time S BITE‘‘ and you‘ve got ‘em. We would like to hear what successes you have had with our plan. We might give a prize to the lady or gentleman catchâ€" ing the most mice in this manner.‘‘ P.S.â€"The Advance has a sort of a sneaking hope that the Wawbewawa correspondent will speak out in inâ€" dignation and confess that he is opâ€" posed to the O.T.A. and has a superâ€" ior still on the farm, and that he never tries his own formula for catching mice, for the reason that he fears that the mice might get into the ‘‘mash‘‘ barrel some time, and then go staggering round the house, squeaking, ‘‘Show us the gink that‘s got a â€" mouthâ€"trap for uth! Show uth the guyth that voted dry‘!"‘ Section 316,â€" Subâ€"Section 1 of the Consolidated Municipal Act, 1922, as to transference of Debentures. To add to his predicament he encountered one of the worst storms of the season, was without matches or food and at night wolves prowled about him as he lay under logs seeking shelter, though they did not attack him. At length, steadfastly believing in his compass and in a fainting condition sometimes crawling on his. bleeding hands and knees, he made his way to Island Lake, 10 miles below his starting point where he was found and given food and shelter by Mr. and Mrs. William Calvert, who happened to be in their summer eamp on a hunting expedition.
