Other Interesting Items from South Porcupine. South Porcupine to Have A Band and Curling Club South Poreupine, Oct. 6th.â€"Special to the Advance. There was a special meeting in the Council Chambers on Sunday afterâ€" noon, October 5th, in comtton with forming the Band for South #Poreuâ€" pine. The purpose of the meeting was to get a line on @all the musicians in the Camp and also to find out how many had their own _ instruments. James Brown was elected chairman for the meeting and the following is a list of the Band members to date:â€"2 J. Loos, Trombone; J. Costain, Bass Trombone; W. W. Wilson, Trombone and Saxaphone; â€" R. MeWilliams, Cornet: John Moroz, Cornet; Gene €olombo, Cornet and Alto; Mr. Fonâ€" zie, Cornet; Ed. Bylkas, Cornet ; A. Bostrom,. The question of Bandâ€" master. was taken up and set aside until next meeting which will take place on Thursday, Oct. 9th, at 8 p.m. In view of the fact that many of the business men are coâ€"operating towards gettring the band started, South Poreupine is assured of a Band that will in a short time rival some of the other Bands in the North. A full account of Thursday‘s meeting will be published in the next issue. Apparently someone ‘has been talkâ€" ing to the men at work on the Govâ€" etunment Road through South Poreuâ€" pine,. At any rate during the course of last week much has been done and many loads of rock have been placed and graded. It is beginning to look as thought it will be a permanent highway and much credit is due the parties who have looked into the matâ€" tfer which was so important and got things started.
