The tank bears ‘tags with the words ‘«National Drug and Chemical Co., Toronto,""‘ printed on the face, but there is reason for believing that the tags also are used without authority and that the shipment originated with another firm or individual. Until someone claims the shipment, either as sender or owner, there will be no charges possible against anyone, but the liquor is seized according to law. This means a loss of well over $400.00 to someone. The alcohol alone will run close in price to $400.00 and the tank is worth $30.00 or more. ‘Mtr. and Mrs. W of Chicago, were last week. The meeting of the Timmins Board of Trade called for Monday of this week to appoint delegates to the Asâ€" soctated Boards of Trade meeting at Matheson on Monday, Aug. 4th, failâ€" ed to materialize to any great extent, only about half a dozen â€" members turning out. The lack of attendance was no doubt due in large measure to counterâ€"attractions and to the fact that many are away on holidays. At the same time, there is also much in the suggestion that many are so busy looking after their own private atâ€" fairs that they will not give the time and attention to matters in the genâ€" eral interests of the community. If this spirit grows and continues, the town in general will be the loser. After all, individual interests depend on the general welflare of the comâ€" munity, and time and attention must be given to community matters. A recent threatening fire on Fifth Avenue, he points out, was due to youngsters having matches in a playhouse built for them. This fire, the Chief says, might have had serious consequences, and tragedy or serious loss may be averted by impressing upor the youngsters the fact that matches are not proper or safe playthings for children.
