The late Mr. John was a native of Swansea, Wales, and came to Canada in 1889 to open the Murray Mine at sudbhury. He was chemist at the Murray Mine for a of years. He opened one of the first assay offices in this part of the North at Haileybury in 1907 and from then until the time of his death he conducted this office with an ability and integrity that won him the highâ€" est regard and gave the district a service of particuwlar excellence.
