The fire was only a slight chimney blaze, and it was not necessary to use the hose or water. Evidence of the general belief that Ontario is due for a notable hoom in mining is perhaps given by the anâ€" nouncement of the Toronto University Extension Department. At any rate the announcement is taken as decidedâ€" Iy significant. The announcement is to the effect that a course will be opened on mineralogy, geology and practical mining on the first of Febâ€" ruary. IEwenty are necessary . to make it practical. The course will be under the direction of Prof. Haultain and will run one evening a week with two hours on Saturday for ten weeks. AIll will sincerely wish Mrs. G. S. Drew an eéarly and complete recovery from the illness that overtook her some days ago. Mrs. Drew ed the disease so prevalent here reâ€" cently, measles, an« this was followâ€" ed â€"by complications arising from an affection of the heart. For a day or two Mrs. Drewâ€" was very seriously ill, but all will be pleased to know that she is now much improved and evidently on the way to recovery. Her mother, (Mrs. H.
