THE PORCU PINE ADVANCE Annual Meeting Reports Show Very Satisfactory Conditions and Prospects. At the annual meeting of the shareâ€" holders of the Vipond. Consolidated Gold Mirtes, held in Toronto on Thursâ€" day last, the addresses of officials and the reports for the year show the prospects for this property to be of the very best. The reports made of the annual meeting indicate that ofâ€" ficials, management and shareholders alike are optimistic, and apparently have good hbasis for their optimism. That the mine ore reserves of the Vipond Consolidated have been inâ€" creased in value during the past two months by $1,000,000 was a striking statement ‘made at the annual meetâ€" ing by Dr. J. Macintosh Bell, the company‘s superintendent â€" and conâ€" VIPOND MINE RESERVES _ INGREASED $1.000.000 ‘he No. 10 vein, from which such excellent values have been secured, is already proven for a continuous length of 250 feet along the 400â€"foot level, and 125 feet in length along the 500â€"ft. level,. Dr. Bell says that indiâ€" cations are favorable for the highâ€" grade lenses extending much dleeper, as well as expanding in width and length. The No. 10 veinâ€" has been stripped for a considerable length on the surface and it was from the deâ€" velopment of this vein that the vreâ€" cent increase in ore reserves has come. Dr. Bell, in commencing his reâ€" marks, >.11(f that during the last year theke had been a substantial improveâ€" ment in the physical condition of the Vipond Mine. Satisfactory results have attended developments on prevâ€" iously known veins, and a number of important new veins have ‘bheen disâ€" covered. ‘On July 15th the oreâ€"reâ€" serves were estimated at 210,885 tons of $6.62 ore of a gross value of $1,â€" 396,107.56, which 75,000 tons was company‘s superintendent â€" and conâ€" sulting engineer. (He also gave it as his opinion that the section of this gold mine under _ development was proving up as rich, if not richer, than gV(Ll JININC â€" Under development. was proving up as rich, if not richer, than any individual section of the Hollinâ€" ger Mine, which it immediately adâ€" ,juins. of $6.62 ore of a gross value of $1,â€" 396,107.56, of which 75,000 tong was about $9.00 grade, or of a gross value of $675,000.â€" Since that date it is estimated that thére has been opered up not less than 100,000 tons of ore of a grade of not less than $10.00, or sufficient at least to keep the mill supâ€" plied for a period of awhout two years. It is expected that the mill will _be ready to commence operations by the middle of November, with a daily capâ€" acity of 150 tons. There is no exâ€" pectation of another power shortazge. Mr. Hamilton B. Wills, president of the company, says that ‘ in future there will be ample for all requireâ€" ments. Mr. Wills pointed out that, under the terms of the consolidation the management had $400,000 avaiiable to complete the development plan and bring the mine to a producing stage. A vigorous plan along this line was adopted and, on the whole, the manâ€" agement is well satisfied with the vreâ€" sults. The old Board of Direectors were reâ€"elected. The meeting was of the most enthusiastic nature, there beâ€" ing in excess of 1,400,000 shares of stock represented out of a total of 2,000,000. A vote of confidence in the executive and mine management, to which was attached the names of Mine Manager Everard and Mine Captain Hattie, was unanimously passed. t THIS SEEMS TO BE A REAL CASE OF ‘‘FIRE WATER*" The Indians had a touch of proâ€" phecy in their minds when centuries ago they named liquor, ‘‘fire water."‘‘ Some days ago a very thirsty man at Hairleybury drank ‘‘fire water‘‘ all right when he indulged in a can or two of **Sterno,"‘‘ familiarly known as ‘‘canned heat.‘‘ The man drinkâ€" ing this preparation found it was no proper drink for a gentleman. As a result of the indulgence in this liquid the man in question is in the hosp:tal in a very bad way. He will not likeâ€" ly die, but his chanees of recovery in full are not the most pleasant.
