This deâ€" lay through red tape seemed,to occur at Toronto, and The Advancee is still of the opinion that it would be well to change the system so that those in charge here could issue the necessary cheques. This would mean much quickâ€" er payment for the mern employed, without any added cost or inconveâ€" nience to the Government. However, in the meantime all the back cheques hbave come through and the men are now all right with their pay. Part of the recent delay is understood to have been due to some of the cheques beâ€" ing sent to Cothprane from Toronto. Such a delay would be avoided if payâ€" ment were made here direct, and all time sheets could be duly echecked up by the Department while at the same time the men employed at the good work would not have any long waits for their monev.
