The tie between Timmins and Coâ€" chrane for the leadership of the first half of the district ‘baseball league was decided on Thursday last in a sudden death game at Iroquois Falls. A number from Timmins went over to the Falls to see the game. The Broke Hustler this week gives the folâ€" lowing detailed story of the game:â€" By defeating Timmins 9â€"5 here last Thursday in the final playâ€"off for the first half championship of the N.0O.B. 4.. Cochrane won the rigcht to meet FALLG AND GOGHRANE NOW PLAYING FOR WILS CGUP A., Cochrane won the right to meet the Iroquois Falls team for the chamâ€" pionship of the lTeague. The Paperâ€" makers won the second half champion ship, and the final issue will ‘be deâ€" cided on Tuesday and Friday of this week, when the Falls play Cochrane in the Junetion town on Tuesday and on the local ‘ball lot Friday. In the event of each team winning onegame, a third and final game will dikely played on neutral grounds at a date to be decided later. To win the chamâ€" pionship for 1922, and possession of the handsome new Hamilton B. Wills trophy, either Cochrane or the Falls will have to win both games this week or as mentioned above in the case of a tie, the third game wherever it is played. 1t is rather late in the season to ‘be playing baseball in this part of the country, but it looks as though the "little world‘s series‘‘ awill attract considerable attention. The Falls are rizht up in there, as Barney would say, after what looked like a very dbad start at the commencement of the The. game Thursday between the Cochrane and Timmins rivals .whas chuck full of good and ‘bad baseball. At times, the Cochrane team looked like a million dollars, exspecially when they ~pulled off those two lightning double plays which eut off sure runs, but the real reason for the Timmins defeat rests upon ‘the number of erâ€" rors Tate‘s team mates pulled off behind him. Just nine miscues were chalked up to various members of the Golddiggers. ‘Tate pitched championâ€" Golddiggers. ‘Tate pitched championâ€" ship ‘ball. He struck out seventeen batters, the ~most that have been struck out in the N.O.B.A. this seaâ€" son, and yet the winners nicked his offerings for nine safe bingles. Five of ‘these came in the third inning, when â€"Cochrane really cinched the game, scoring five runs in this frame. In four of the nine innings, ‘Tate struck out all three batsmen. It was a hard game for the elongated twirler to lose. = l Timmins: Sceully, 2b. Destefano, Pierce, 1b. Duncan, 1.4 Tate, p.: . Farr,. ob.
