Oy Some days ago a number of those interested gathered at Connaught, first with the idea of forming a local gun club, but as the matter came to be dxscu%ed and considered this first idea expanded into the plan of orâ€" ganizing a gun club for the whole disâ€" trict. Accordmgly, a second meeting has been cealled for Sunday afternoon ~f the coming week, Feb. 8th at Connaught. _ Invitations have been sent to a number of those thought to be interested, the list including people in Timmins, Schumacher, South Porâ€" ,cupme and other parts of the district. All interested will be weleomed to the.meeting on Sunday as it is desitâ€" ed to have representative from the whole distriet. Practically everyone in this district knows that the Conâ€" iaught section is about unrivalled for (lll(‘lx shooting and similar sports. The present idea is to take full advantage of this natural resource and to esâ€" tablish a district gun club with headâ€" quarters at Connaught, where suitable ranges will be secured and where there will be the best of trap shootâ€" ing. Further, it is proposed to erect garding a suitable range for practice, ete., and the fact that the Club «did not have any form of club house accommodation adequate to the needs. The proposed elub at Connaught is starting out with the idea of overcomâ€" ing these difficulties from the outset. Also the suggested organization: at Connaught proposes® to include the whole ~district and to feature advanâ€" tages for outside members. Mtr. . R. J. Ennis, gcneral manager of the Melniyreâ€"Porcupine Mimne, has gone to Battle Creek, Mich., on a visit on atcount of his healtl. The afternoon Tea given at Miss Maltais‘ millinery parlors yesterday by the St. Anthony‘s Girls Altar Society proved a successt‘ul and enjoy able social event, the "uttendance beâ€" inz large and all ‘being pleased with the social features of the occasion. Timmins won with a score of 9 to 2, but the play was }much more even than the sceore sugâ€" gests. In fact this junior game was an â€" excellent exhibition of good hockey, and the ‘hockey fans who watched it are agreed that with a little coaching these two junror teams will develop into hockey experts who will in a year or two make the seniors look to their "It was a real hockey match,‘"‘ said one oldâ€"time hockey player, ‘‘and the boys showed a specd and knowledge of the game that was most interesting.
