The Town Gouncil has been holding its regular meetings on the second and iourth Mondays of each month, and the new Council is following this rule. Mr. G. Spenes, of the Bank of Comâ€" merce staff, Timmins, left Thursday morning last for Montreal where he has been promoted to a good position on ‘the bank staff. Mr. Spence was popular here in many cireles, esâ€" pecially in clean manly sport such as baseball, hockey, tennis, golf, etc., and he will be much missed in town. His numerous friends here, however, will wish him the best of good luck and advancement whereever he may be. The Haileyburian last week had the following reference to the young man killed in an accident at the Melntyre Mine last week:â€"‘‘John Dolan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Dolan, Third Street, Haileybury, lost his life at the Mclntyre Mine, Poreupine, on Monâ€" day. The acceident was caused by a fall of rock. Deceased, who was only 17 years of age, had been employed at the Melntyre since last October. Preâ€" vious to going there he lived with his arents here and was empluyed at searf‘s Livery. The remains were rought _ to Haileybury â€" yesterday W edneqda\) and the funeral takes tace this morning (Jan. 15th) at aine o‘elock. Much sympathy is exâ€" ressed for the sorrowing parents. About twenty young people were present and enjoyed a social evening and a pleasant danee. Mr. Harry Wrinn was appointed Treasurer to succeed Mr. R. Benallick. There was a large turnout at the New Empire Theatre on Wednesday evening last to hear the Hawaiian Quartette. These native musicians from thg southern islands liave been widely praised by the press of the citâ€" ies visited on this tour. Here they gave visited on this tour.
