It has leaked out that this business is serious and import ant as he is said to ‘be bringing into Town with him a wife. Where the knot is to be tied is not known but Dame Rumour says Cochrane. On Thursday evening last, January 30th, a very successrul dance was given in the Town Hall by the ‘ White The music was furnishâ€" ed by the Town Band and Town Orâ€" chestra, and the Programme of Dances was under the direction of Mr. Rau. Mr. Potter, in a short speech before the programme started, prepared the dancers for ithe oldâ€"fashioned danees which figured vyery prominently on the programme, beginning with the Grand March. All those present enâ€" joyed every minute of the dance and even when the time came to go home were still eager for wmore. This was one of the dances to be remembered in so far as the danee lovers of Iroâ€" quois Falls are concerned. If the Doctor ever expects to get his new office hours into effect, we would stronely suggest a large card with ‘*Office Hours"‘ printed on one side and a ‘‘Smailâ€"Pox‘‘ notiece on the other. Needtess to say we would have the Smallâ€"pox side exhibited on ‘*oft"* hours.. ‘With such a sign m front of them people would have to be in great need of assistance before they would venture as ifar as the eléctricâ€"bell button. Of course this would only work in the day time as at night the sign wouldn‘t ‘be seen. Any furtier suggestions from some of the town‘s inventive **genii‘‘ will ibe eladly welcomed, we are sure, by the Doctors. Another meeting of the above Club was held Monday evening last, when Mr. McKenzie, the new â€" President took the chair. Through â€" some _ misunders:anding there was no set ‘pvooramme, which however, proved a blessing in disguise (as after Messrs. MeKenzie and Morâ€" ton bad canvassed those present) quite lot of talent was discovered, among whom Mr. White of the Townâ€" site must be congratulated on his renderinz of Burns‘ ‘‘The Cotter‘s Saturday Night.‘‘ Mr. Geo, White, our Tonsorial Anilist gave a song, and also read one of Service‘s poems *‘ The Shooting of Dan MetQraw!‘ with draâ€". matic effect. We often wonder whethâ€" er George should have been a Parson or an Actor2? â€" Another gentleman: zave a humorous Irish dldlo"ue enâ€" titled *+‘Flanagan‘s New Year Call"! which was greatly enjoyed. A feature of the meeting was‘an innovation of the Chairman, asking ceertain questions and calling on someâ€" one in‘ the audience to answer them. It is not often we get Miss MeDonald stumped, but she did not ssem to be able to answer the question put to her "AMow is it after twenty centuries less about eiglsy years, women are only just finding out they want the vote?"" Mr. Harding told us in a humourous song ‘‘He had only come down for the day."" We wish he had prolongâ€" ed his visit. Miss MCDonald nex: gave us a readâ€" ing, something about a cook, the soup and the galléy. We believe it was humourous because Miss MeDonald seemed tickled to dGeath over it,â€"so much so that we could only grasp the Cook the Soup and the Galley. _ We believe there was something about the Mate too but of course we cannot have soup without mate. After this Ruth and Jacob took the floor for quite a while and seemed @io enjoy themselves.
