The rain during the past few days has at least had the effect that it has saved the town the necessity of conâ€" sidering any system of streetâ€"oiling to keep down the sand called dust. The T. N. 0. paint car came to town this week and between the rains things are being brushed up and beautified around the company‘s proâ€" perty. The special features at the New Empire Theatre on Friday and Satâ€" urday were much enjoyed. MeQuinn, ‘‘the man who sings to beat the band,‘‘ did so to the satisfaction of the big crowds, while the attractive litile MeQuinn twins, in dancing and singing and other specialties, deâ€" lighted‘ all by their cleverness and skill. The songs, dances and other novelties made a pleasing change in the program. All will regret to learn that Chief S. R. Craft is at present in the hosâ€" pital at Haileybury undergoing treatâ€" ment that may keep him there two or three weeks. No less than fourteen motorists were fined last. week in the Silver City for exéeeding the speed limit.. And the Cobalt polâ€" ice say that this is only a beginning to the court cases,â€"or an end to the- fast driving.
