The Women‘s Guild of the South Poreupine Presbyterian church reâ€" cently paid $100 off the debt of the chureh through the proceeds of a tea and a eoncert, both events being held liev. P. R. Soanes, of Chapleau, Ont., is visiting at the Rectory. and will be the preacher at the Lenten service at St. Matthew‘s Chureh on Wednesday night. He will also adâ€" dress the ladies of the Sewing Circle at 2.30 in the Rectory on Thursday. Those who had the pleasure of meetâ€" ing Mrs. Soanes in February will be glad to hear Mr. Soanes ths week. There will be no Easter exeursion or special Easter rates this year on any of the railways in Canada, Sir Henry Dayton of the Dominion Railâ€" way Commission insisting on this on account of the present congestion of traific. Accordingly the only special rates at Easter will be those usually accordedcommereial men, students and one or two other special classes. Every field in the district will be visâ€" ited and the matter placed fairly beâ€" fore the eongregations, The present plan is the dividing of the mission fields into groups, with an equal number of charges assigned to each of the two denominations.
