The Independent joins with many friends in extending congratulations to Mr. John Jeffery, 24 Robinson St., South, who on Monday last, May 3rd, reached another milestone in the attainment of his 81st birthday. In spite of his advanced years, Mr. Jeffery takes keen enjoyment in tending his garden and enjoys reading his newspapers. On Monday evening about 20 friends tendered him a birthday party. After a pleasant few hours of cards, the serving of refreshments brought the evening to a close.
