NEWS North Oakville condos get the go-ahead Planning and development council approves 221 units in three four-storey apartments DAVID LEA dlea@oakvillebeaver.com OAKVILLE - Oakville's planning and develop­ ment council has given the final go-ahead for a North Oakville condo­ minium development. Council voted Monday, Jan. 15 to approve a draft plan that will establish condominium tenure for three four-storey residen­ tial apartm ent buildings containing a total of 221 units. The development, which is located in the Metroland photo Oakville Town Hall Dundas and Postville streets area on Sabina Drive, received final site plan approval in March 2016 and is currently un­ der construction. The 1.42-hectare prop­ erty will also feature one level of underground parking to accommodate 242 residential parking units, 28 underground visitor parking units, 69 locker units, bicycle park­ ing and garbage/recy- cling areas. An additional 25 visi­ tor parking spaces will be provided in an outdoor surface parking area. Red Ginger Develop­ ments Inc. is developing the property, which is sur­ rounded by a commercial shopping plaza to the south, vacant lands to the west, a stormwater man­ agement facility to the east and three-storey resi­ dential townhouses to the north. Town staff noted they were satisfied the applica­ tion conforms to the over­ all policy direction of the North Oakville East Sec­ ondary Plan and other relevant policy docu­ ments. The property is zoned Trafalgar Urban Core, which permits apartment buildings with a mini­ mum height of three sto­ reys to a maximum height of 15 storeys.
