Kerr Street Mission really is the community caring for the community and "C h ristm as W onders and B eyond" is a remarkable example of that. This year hundreds of volunteers and donors helped us provide for fam ilies that did not have the means to celebrate. For families struggling to make ends meet because of a job loss, physical or mental health issues, a separation or maybe they just weren't able to make enough money to provide for their family, the help they received from us was a special blessing. Being able to enjoy Christmas, the food, the fellowship, and gifts, and knowing they don't have more debt to weigh them down, truly has given them hope. "Thank you so much for everything you do for us. Since we found Kerr Street Mission, we have hope. We know we are going to be ok because you look after us." "We have a very hard life and harder to me when it com es to Christmas because I cannot give children presents what I like to give. But I have an angel who helped to make that happen, and it is you. I want to THANK YOU from my heart..." Did y o u know ... • 1216 people were blessed through "Christmas W onders and Beyond" this year. • That represents 489 fam ilies made up of 646 children and 570 adults. • And 825 donors with an average gift of $470 gave generously out of love for their neighbour. We need your support. Please give generously, so that together we can continue to provide help and hope for individuals and families in need in Oakville. No. 897106845RR0001 Greenhouse blooms in winter The weather outside might be frightful with windchills close to -30C, followed by sloppy snow and then rain, but inside Oakville's Cornwall Greenhouse it's delightful with temperatures around 23C, making it a virtual oasis from winter's fury. The greenhouse is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Greenhouse staffer Janet Oosten waters a Kalanchoe, a popular indoor flowering plant, while surrounded by Euphorbia cactus plants native to desert type climates like Arizona on Friday, Jan. 5. Purple orchids glisten in the morning sunlight. A bright orange Bird of Paradise flower brightens up any day. The greenhouse even boasts a small banana tree with its miniature bananas.
