Fillier opened the scoring with a short handed goal 2:33 into the game and then set up Oakville's other four goals as the Hornets ran their Provincial Women's Hockey League winning streak to seven games. Emily Rickwood scored in the final minute of the first period and Laura Cote extended her goal-scoring streak to five games, increasing Oakville's lead to 3-0 in the second. Catherine Trevors made it 4-0 in the open ing minute of the third and she scored again late in the third to round out the scoring. Kayla Fillier and Rickwood each had two assists. Oakes recorded her fourth shutout of the season and 11th of her career. After earning back-to-back ECAC hockey player-of-the-week awards, the sophomore centre was named the conference's top play er for November. O'Neill recorded a point on more than half of Cornell's goals in the month, finishing with six goals and eight as sists in nine games. She began the month with two goals and an assist in a 5-2 win over Quinnipiac, in cluding the sixth shorthanded goal of her career. That tied her with fellow Oakville native Brianne Jenner as Big Red's all-time leader. It was the first of O'Neill's five multi-point games in November. Cornell went 6-2-1 during the month and climbed to No. 5 in the national rankings. Garrett Pyke got the Blades rolling with a power-play goal three minutes into the game and Andrew McIntyre made it 2-0 before the five-minute mark. Wellington cut the lead in half in the second period, but Spencer Kersten restored Oakville's two-goal advantage 1:23 into the third. The Dukes again pulled within one with seven minutes remaining but Chris Elliot shut down Wellington the rest of the way, finishing with 24 saves to earn his 17th win of the season. With the win, Oakville (24-8-3) moved into a tie with Wellington for first overall in the OJHL with 51 points. North York edged the Blades 2-1 Friday Ted Burles scored for the Blades but North York got the winner with three minutes to play. Elliot made 33 saves. It was a success in one way, however, as hundreds of stuffed bears were thrown onto the rink when Buries scored in the first period. The annual Teddy Bear Toss fundraiser is in support of the Oakville Firefighters' toy drive. Oakville plays twice at home this week. Orangeville is in town tomorrow (Friday) and Milton plays the Blades on Saturday, Dec. 16.
