For the second year in a row, a very special hockey game will be held in December in memory of two Oakville men whose lives were tragically cut short. Timothy Boissiere, 23, and long-time friend Michael Calderone, 23, were killed on Dec. 22, 2015 in a fiery fourvehicle collision on the QEW, east of Trafalgar Road. Family members said the young men had been on their way to play hockey, a sport both enjoyed intensely. A year later, Michael's sister Larissa and Timothy's sisters Rachel and Kimberly, got together and organized a fitting tribute to the pair in the form of a memorial community hockey game. The event also served as a fundraiser and succeeded in raising around $9,000, which was donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton and used to sponsor a child to play rep hockey for the year. This year the tradition will continue with a memorial hockey game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, 3070 Neyagawa Blvd. Residents taking part will have the opportunity to play hockey and bid on items in a Timothy Boissiere Michael Calderone silent auction. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to charity. The memorial event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the game taking place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at rink one. "We are trying to honour their memory by holding the game that they never made it to," said Larissa. With the second anniversary of Michael and Timothy's deaths approaching, memories of the two boys are not far from the minds of their family members. "We miss them a lot," said Charmaine Boissiere, Timothy's mother. "Especially now when it is hockey time, we miss them a lot." Charmaine said the two friends had a routine when it came to attending hockey games. They would head to the destination, wait until it was close to game time and then purchase hockey tickets at a discount. "If he (Tim) could have gone to every single Leafs game there was, he would have, I can tell you that," said Tim's mother.
