D uring T hanksgiving Sunday (today) and Monday, chair lift rides to the top of the Niagara Escarpment will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Explore trails along one of the most scenic parts o f the N iagara Escarpment. Enjoy panoramic cliff-edge views and quiet walks through old-growth forest. Guided hikes led by experienced Museum and Bruce Trail Association guides, are also being offered and depart daily at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the Halton Region Museum. Hikers have the choice of two routes -- one to the standing ruins of the historic Christie-Henderson lime kilns. The lime kilns, constructed by D.D. Christie of the Kelso area, were used to bum chunks of limestone from a nearby quarry. The burnt stone was turned into powdered lime for the production of mortar and plaster. The second hiking route is along the edge o f the Escarpment to the tip of Milton Heights, the bluff overlook ing Highway 401 at Milton with spec tacular views o f the surrounding area. C am eras, com fortable shoes, and water bottles are recommended. Visit the old log cabin for an apres-hike cider at the Halton Region Museum. Included with the gate fee into the park is admission to the Museum's Exhibits Building. Check out the new Discovery Centre for children or join in on the Discovery Hunt around the grounds of the nine teenth century historic homestead. Entry to Kelso is $3.25/adult; $2.75/senior; and $2.25/child (five to 14 years). Chair lift rides are $2/adult and $ 1/child and senior. Guided hikes are $5/person. Groups welcome.
