It read "I'm not lucky, I'm blessed." In a tragic twist of irony, Trimarchi, 4 7 , of Mississauga, was struck and killed by a truck on the morning of March 6, 2 0 1 5 , in the area of W inston Churchill Boulevard and Britannia Road. On Tuesday, Nov. 14, more than two years after the deadly incident, truck driver Rui Santos, 56, also of Mississauga, pleaded guilty in front of Justice Bruce Durno to dangerous driving causing death. Santos returns to Brampton court on Dec. 20 for sentencing. Peel Regional Police say Trimarchi was getting out of a taxi around 5:30 a.m. when a southbound truck swerved to avoid the parked cab, hitting the pedestrian. Trimarchi was something of an inspirational leader and active volunteer with The Meeting House in Oakville, described as "a church for people who aren't into church," and was also a member of one the organization' s home churches -- Trillium Home Church on Paisley Boulevard in Mississauga. "It' s such a huge loss, not having him around anymore," Lindholm, a friend of Trimarchi' s who would attend events with him at The Meeting House. "He brought a lot of those (church) meetings to life with his words and songs." Friends and family remember Trimarchi as an active volunteer who loved music and played the guitar. He was an usher and often greeted members of his church for Sunday gatherings. One member said Trimarchi was known for his infectious smile.
