Kick off the Christmas season with the Downtown Oakville Tree Lighting Ceremony tonight (Friday, Nov. 17), from 7 to 9 p.m. Visit Towne Square to see the annual tree lighting ceremony, enjoy live entertainment and carolling. Visitors can meet Santa and enjoy treats. On Saturday, Nov. 25, Bronte Village holds its annual Tree Lighting and Carol Sing-along, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Centriller Square. Highlights include: a photo-op with Santa and Mrs. Claus; children' s activities; performances by Tempus Choral Society and The Salvation Army Oakville Choir; as well as food and beverages provided by local businesses. The tree lighting is at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Anyone who would be interested in volunteering at Bronte Village' s tree lighting event should contact Cathie at communications@brontevillage.net. Kerr Village holds its 23rd Annual Kerr Village Christmas tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Square, 340 Kerr St. Admission to the tree lighting ceremony is free for the entire family. In addition to appearances by Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and a Christmas elf, there will be McGruff the Crime Dog, live music, singing and a Taste of Kerr Village. People are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to place in the box in front of the Christmas tree as part of the Toys for Tots campaign.
