From Nov. 18 to 25, the YMCA of Oakville, together with YMCAs across Canada, celebrates peace in our community and reflects on the peace-building work that happens all year long. "In today's globalized world, we are all connected to each other more than we realize," says Kyle Barber, CEO, at the YMCA of Oakville and Niagara, in a press release. "By sharing our message of peace, we are able to inspire others to become engaged in peaceful actions, Barber added." YMCA Peace Week offers activities that help children, youth and adults explore peace from personal, community and global perspectives. Collectively, YMCAs in Canada ask people to: Build community. Act for peace. To help build peace in the community, the YMCA of Oakville will be holding a number of activities. This year' s community breakfast will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23, from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Oakville Conference Centre. As part of a series of events and discussions on Truth and Reconciliation in Halton, Gabrielle Scrimshaw, will be the keynote speaker.
