Since its opening in October 1987 when su shi was being introduced to Canada, the local restaurant located at 143 Church St., has not only survived, but thrived, and has helped out the Oakville hospital along the way. Mye, owner and executive chef, Mo Aoki, donates proceeds raised at its charity dinner to the Oakville Hospital. Every year since 2012, Aoki has held Mye's Feast For Good event in order raise funds to help purchase life-saving equipment, beds, and units to build the hospital that will be come a life support for the local community This year, Mye reached its goal of raising $15,000 for the Oakville Hospital Foundation in a single evening, bringing its total funds raised to $190,000 for the Oakville Hospital Foundation. During the event, Aoki shares his epic life story beginning from his early entrepreneur ial journey in Japan at his parents' restaurant, to starting several small ventures, and eventu ally meeting his wife, Chisa, before moving to "Connected to yo u r Community " Mye Restaurant celebrates 30 years and $190K for OTMH Oakville with his young family and opening his own restaurant. There will be refreshments and a display from Osteoporosis Canada from 6 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Speakers include Dr. Aliya Khan, an inter nationally recognized bone expert and phy sician at OTMH; Dr. Mark Ginty, an ortho pedic surgeon at OTMH; and, Dr. Gregory Thomson, physician program director, Halton Healthcare Rehabilitation and Geriatrics Program. There will be a question-and-answer ses sion after the presentation. Participants can find out how to build strong bones for life and prevent fractures in the future. The event is being organized in recogni tion of Osteoporosis Month and in partner ship with Osteoporosis Canada during the month of November. The event is free, but participants must pay for parking.
