Historically bad news is more interesting and makes headlines, but good news rarely gets the attention it deserves. Michael did something very selfless, and kind, and we think that his action should receive some sort of recognition, let ting other people know we should retain faith in our youths. Our 15-year-old wanted to stay in and not go out with his Iriends to gather candy for Halloween. My wile and I convinced him it would be his last year, and that he should go. He put on his costume on and off he went. He joined his Iriends from Holy trinity and went out in a group of six. After a good night of trick-ortreating, he called me around nine o'clock to pick him up. W hen I collected him, I asked how much candy he got, and he said a pillowcase lull. 1 asked if 1 could see it, and been given out, and they were going home. Michael said the child's mother was visibly upset because her child was sad. Michael said to the boy, "Your costume is better than mine, so please take all my candy, I don't want it, I need to eat healthier." The child lit up like a star. The mother was flabbergasted with happiness. They were both shocked. Michael went back to his friends, said nothing and they had no clue what he did. He came home and told his mother and I what he did, and we both had to hold our tears of pride. 1 have always said Michael was selfless, but last night he wrote his legacy in his mom' s and dad' s hearts.
