Magistrate VanDusen was again on the bench on Saturday last investi- gating two charges of assault laid by Robt. Scilly against William and Thomas Phillips. The former plead- ed guilty and was fined $1.00 and costs, in all $11.35. The latter plead- ed not guilty, but from the evidence, though there was much that was conflicting, the Magistrate decided that he was, and imposed $2.00 and costs, in all $12.35. The alleged as-I saults took place on the 20th ult. at the Maxwell hotel during the disord- erly conduct for which both parties were fined as reported by us last week. l Worts vs. P. Loucks was an action for damages rising out of mare not proving in foal which had been pur- chased by the plaintifi from the de- fendant. The latter denied warranty, I but Judgment was given for $20.00. [Jas. Sullivan, of Osprey, vs. George lGlassford, poundkeeper. Maxwell.â€" Action to recover 90 cts. fees paid to lpoundkeeper. Nine head of cattle l belonging to A. Sornberger were im- ; pounded by Sullivan from whom ten cents a head was collected for fees.
