"So this was no small undertaking." A passing motorist stopped, but had no idea how to help besides directing the couple to an other nearby gas station. After around half an hour of pushing the mo torcycle in the dark, Lim and Wasley were still nowhere near a gas station and exhaustion and frustration were beginning to set in. It was at this point that Wasley realized they were in front of Oakville's Fire Station One at 2535 Rebecca St. "I figured maybe they could help or at the very least call us a tow truck," she said. The four firefighters on duty did far more than that. Firefighter Andy Waldron was himself a mo torcycle rider and knew how to fix the problem. The firefighters drained the diesel from the motorcycle engine, cleaned it and provided the couple with some gasoline so they could get to a gas station and refill their tank. "They turned our whole night around. They were so happy to help. We were probably there a minimum of an hour and a half," said Wasley. "At one point, when they were testing the engine, they could see I was getting a bit bored and so they asked me if I wanted to dress up in hrehghter clothes." Wasley said wearing the fire gear, which ineluded a helmet, boots and an oxygen tank, made the evening a real treat. "This could have been a really bad situation we were tired and we could have been fighting, but these guys told jokes the whole time and made us feel so welcome and so comfortable," she said. "It was just such a great experience. They re ally went above and beyond." Eventually the firefighters were able to get the bike working again and after Lim test-drove it around the block, it was deemed ready to carry the couple back to Toronto. Before heading back, however, Lim and Was ley returned to her parents' house in Burlington, grabbed a bottle of Crown Royal and (with her parents' permission) gifted it to the hrehghters. As the couple prepared to return to Toronto they stopped at the gas station the passing mo torist had directed them to and found that the station owner had been informed about their situation and was waiting for them. During the conversation Wasley mentioned she lost her headphones during the ordeal at which point the gas station owner gave her his own new headphones for next to nothing. "The people were all so kind. I don't know if it was just Thanksgiving spirit or if that's just Oakville," she said. "Every encounter we had that evening was re ally nice and I feel like I don't really see that in Toronto."
